Sidecar tires... Where did the Conti Tour go...?

I really hate doing tire research after I have established a good application that works... then the manufacturer stops production.

The EV Hack has been wearing a 130/90-17 Conti Tour and it is time for a replacement, can't find one.

Any suggestions from you Hack types, Conti or others for good wear on the rear of a Guzzi Hack...?  Oh, must be a non-radial.

Interesting... I use the Metzler Block K up front so this flat tread design ay compliment that with the profile that is similar.

So you are thinking that the larger one will fit into the EV swing arm...?

The Tour was replaced by the Go! about three years ago.

The Tour was replaced by the Go! about three years ago.

And the Go! does just that - very quickly! Didn't last 4k miles on the back of my (31 hp, 350 lb.) MZ Silver Star 500. The Shinko 712 that replaced it was still going at 6k miles.

I miss the old Conti Blitz and Tour - great tires at a reasonable price back when. Closest I've found to them is the Shinko 230 Tour Master.

I ordered a 230 Shinko, I had installed a set on a friend's Honda CX 500 and I like the pattern. 

What I actually need to do is swap the rim so that I can run a car tire in the rear but I have yet to get off top dead center and make that happen.

We don't put a great deal of miles on the Hack but I like to have good tires on it...

Rob those tires I linked to are car tires, don't have to relace rims unless your going for a 16 inch or something like that

I ordered a 230 Shinko, I had installed a set on a friend's Honda CX 500 and I like the pattern. 

The 230 has a *lot* of rubber on the carcass and deep tread. At 9k miles, the one on the rear of my '71 Ambo is worn flat in the center, but still has tread.

May I ask why radials were ruled-out? I have a Load Star radial on my sidecar and it seems to work swimmingly.

This is a 400/425-17 car tire mounted on a stock Bassa wheel. 3/4" clearance so next time I'll try a 450-17 or maybe a 550

Since nobody answered I think it's personal preference . For me I don't like the feel of radials on Tonti frame motorcycles, seems squirrelly . I haven't tried them on a sidecar though and haven't tried to find them in the sizes I want. Do you run them all around or mix them?

Neat, yes there is plenty of room for a larger (wider) tire back there...  I did go with the Shinko but let us know how the wear is on the tire that you installed. 
I wonder about squirm if the tread is too tall in the pattern.

The design does make sense too.

I messed up. It's a Kenda Karrier trailer tire. It does in fact say Load Star on it, but that's not the brand. Or maybe it is...some sites say LoadStar as the brand. No idea.

Finding a suitable tire for the wheel on my International sidecar was a pain. This one works pretty well.

The tires on my bike are Dunlop K70s. And mine's a loop frame for what it's worth. So I guess I mix them (biased on the bike and radial on the rig.)

Hey Hager City, huh? Are you hiding out for the Flood Run this Saturday or will you be riding along? Weather's supposed to be terrific.
