a little help test fitting a part in Seattle?
« on: April 04, 2016, 12:53:54 PM »
Hey, folks - a few years ago I made a weird little part to lower the speedo and headlight on the V7's, you may remember.  Well, I guess (after much help from this group, getting fitted, troubleshooting, etc.) we successfully got it off the ground, with modest sales numbers over on Ebay.  (Well, as much success as a weekend-garage-made niche motorcycle part is going to make.  It's beer money.)  I loved the connection with the community over here, but I moved it from WG classifieds to Ebay just because selling it here made me feel like a spammer, not "one of the guys".

Hey, so now a little more help?  The part doesn't fit the new 2016 models, due to the inclusion of the ABS and TCS lights.  We no longer have a donor bike to test on.  I love my 2010 bike and have no need to trade up.  Dave at Moto Intl has been great but I don't want to trailer or snip wires on one of his new bikes.  If anyone is in the Seattle area and willing to let us do a few measurement iterations, we'd love to give you the first part off the laser cutter for free!  The part lowers the speedo down so it's flush with the triple clamp plate, it just cleans up the dash for a lower and leaner look.  Basically it's a totally useless part (if you think aesthetics, design, and just generally spending money to make your bike look RAD is useless!).

My fabricator actually works in a warehouse in Kent.  It would require riding down there - hang out with us for an hour - ride away - come back a couple weeks later and either it's done or it requires another adjustment - etc.

Let me know if that might work for you!  Give me a ring.

(Our fender eliminator is doing alright as well, and fortunately needed no adjustment for 2016 models!)

Ben,

You're more than welcomed to run an ad in our "swap meet" classifieds section for these parts.

We all appreciate the members here who come up with parts and accessories for our low-volume machines.

Sorry, I don't!

Here is a link to the original post, can't believe it was so long ago - but some guys on the forum posted a few pics, besides me.

Hey if you are interested, give me a call!
