Vespa 250 GTS IE

Its been a while since I owned a scooter. We sold our Italjet's about 10 years ago and I've had the itch for a vintage Vespa since. I haven't had any luck finding exactly what I was looking for (late model Vespa Rally), but our local MC shop just received in on consignment a 2006 Vespa GTS. So, in a week moment I bought it.

What a blast! Retro styling, modern 250cc-4Stroke with FI and modern electronics......an d Italian! Absolute perfect condition and  low mileage. It has great 0-60 time and will do 75mph. I might have to sell the Norge! Just kidding!

Yep.  I have a GTS300 which is the newer model of yours.  It has become my primary errand transportation.  With the top box I can carry two sacks of groceries or a case of beer.

 I know of an older gentleman that rode one from Texas to Maine and back, so you really could replace the Norge.

I love riding my Vespa GTS 300. I love my Norge, too, but my Vespa is so darn fun! Agile, swift, incredibly easy to handle, nearly 70 MPG... It always puts a smile on my face (and on the faces of many pedestrians who see me riding it).

Got a 300 GTS, about the same performance as the 250, great around town.

As a Vespa rider who is keenly awaiting the arrival of a new V711 Special, one of my concerns is that I will still find the Vespa too convenient and fun to get the most of the Guzzi! Nice problem to have. There is something about those Vespa curves....

From 2008-2011, my wife and I owned a pair of GTS (250cc models) and I also bought a GTV (same engine but headlight on the front fender).  They were a lot of fun to ride.  My wife lost interest and I decided to sell all of them.  That's when I bought a Breva 750 with only 1200 miles on the odometer.  Due to heart problems, I wound up selling the Breva (and my Griso) and didn't ride for a couple of years.  Got back on the horse over a year ago by buying a V7 Classic and later, a BMW R1200RT.  Gonna keep riding until I simply cannot ride any more.  I've thought about buying another Vespa but the V7 fills the bill nicely; low weight (for a motorcycle), nice power band and just the right amount of power for 90% of the riding that I like to do.  You'll probably like the Vespa (a lot) but if you buy a V7, you'll ride the Vespa less and less.

Last year, March of 2015 I bought my first motor bike ever, 2014 Vespa GTV 300. It was impulse buy and I didn't have motorcycle license. In May 2015 I managed to get my M2 and on May 17th, 2015 i was able to take my Vespa home. This little scooter was a real inspiration to get a bigger bike and this 3rd of May I will pick up my first 'proper' bike, 2016 Audace. I'm still holding to my GTV, it is brilliant around town and no bike can replace it. In the future I may sell MG, depends how it will go, but Vespa is to stay as long as we are in Toronto.

I used to take mine on the road when I was trucking. Now I'm building a house on San Juan island in Washington State and I run errands on the little guy just about every day. It was a wreck that I rehabilitated in 2006.

Bought a 2007 two years ago with 528 miles on her, and sold a car! It is my main ride here in San Francisco.  I still get a few looks when I load it up at Costco with a case of Trumer Pils on the back.  Only issue had to replace the voltage regulator.  Typical Italian wiring harness,  some twist ties, and just stuff it where ever Carlo felt it might fight.  It is am amazing machine, however I just missed buying a 250 cc Aprilia Scarabeo, same engine, bigger wheels, better suspension but plastic body.  Maybe I did the right thing.  Anyway enjoy :)

I hate to start a gas thread , but what do you GTS owners use for gas? Regular, premium?

My ex GF bought a Vespa LX150. At first, I thought she was crazy to spend that much money on a scooter.   ...then I started riding it.  What a blast! Perfect machine for local jaunts in and around my cramped New England town. Surprising off the line pick up at intersections. Absolutely top notch construction. The bonuses are that everyone smiles when they see you and many people comment. Without question, traffic would be much more bearable in places like this if more people rode tiny two wheeled devices like this.

I've never ridden the 300, but I test drove an Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 and my buddy was tailing me on a 300. He had no problem keeping up on tight roads. They are definitely much larger than the 150, though.

Always premium, and I have been averaging 67 miles per gallon (U.S.)! My wife's little Sprint 150 does even better. (According to Vespa's website, it will get 117 miles per gallon, but we have only seen in the 70s and 80s.)

I put 25,000 miles on my Aprilia Mojito 150 and my wife's Vespa GTV 250, including trips to Lake Tahoe and Santa Barbara from northern CA.  I ended up selling my Aprilia to get the V7 Classic, and my wife sold her Vespa when she got pregnant.  I still miss the scooters!

All our vehicles are running on Shell 91 which I assume is premium gasoline.

I think everyone should own a Vespa. I've had probably 10 various flavors since I was 16. I'm 147 now 

One thing I know for sure is that I will change motorcycle types and manufacturers in my lifetime, but I'll always have a Vespa.. or two.

Since retiring again, I've taken a shine to my wife's 2006 Piaggio BV500. She's still learning, so I get to ride it all the time. It had fallen victim to a bad voltage regulator, also; but once I replaced it it returned to running like a champ. That rascal doesn't get 70 mpg, but it will stroll to an indicated "ton." Supremely utilitarian, it also manages to be great fun. It's no wonder that scooters are loved the world over...

The new BV350 is what many people want now, and yes, it will stroll to the 'ton'.

I have a 250 MP3 and use it for town shopping 15 miles away.  Get 70 mpg and put $70 worth of groceries on it with 51L top case added on. 40# bags of bird feed fit under the seat.     Some times I carry a 5 gal. plastic gas can between my legs + food for 50 miles riding up a 6% grade for miles.

Also have a 400 MP3 I ride long distances, like northern Idaho, Colorado, N. Calif., Oregon, Wash., New Mexico.

I've had 2 Vespa 150s and a 200.  While I liked them all, I actually preferred the 150.  Seems like it gave more feedback in handling and that kind of thing whereas the 200 would sometimes feel a little vague in the front.  I've always imagined the 300 would kind of be almost a perfect vehicle.
