Last Saturday I was at a local motorcycle gear vendor (SportBike Track Gear in Shelby Twp MI) and briefly met a local guy who said he owned a Moto Guzzi Le Mans II project bike, as well as a lot of other old Euro bikes. He said the Le Mans had low compression in one cylinder and he wasn't sure if it was savable/worth saving.

Well I was distracted by other things and didn't think to get his name or number. But A) it's always good to know local Guzzi people and B) I might be interested in that Le Mans project if he loses patience with it. If anyone knows him it would be great if I could get in touch with him. Feel free to PM me for contact details.

Regards,
X

Chuck, actually was having that conversation with a coworker just a few hours ago. The guy definitely said Le Mans II (actually just "two" and then clarified "Le Mans" upon further inquiry). I seem to recall that Guzziology lists them as two different models, and in the CX100 section they specify that it was created for the US market, but I don't know if they said it replaced the LeMans in this market.

I'll go back and leave my number with the business in case he comes back or they know who he is. He asked me who I had work on my California and didn't seem like he did a lot of his own wrenching so I don't know if he's on forums like these searching for technical tips.

The US got the following:
850 Le Mans
Le Mans CX100 (instead of the 850 LeMans II other countries received)
850 Le Mans III
Le Mans 1000

There is no such thing as a Le Mans IV or V, though people call them that.
Show me a Le Mans IV and I'll show you a Le Mans 1000.

By Lemans II is he possibly talking about the later 70s 850 vs earlier 850? My lemans 850 had the later separate tail light assembly instead of the tail light housing built into the rear fender.
