"Horrible experience" isn't descriptive with regard to the solution you're asking about.  What is the problem you're trying to solve?

 It will not improve suspension action one bit , will only slightly increase or decrease the effective spring rate .

Send the forks to Traxxion Dynamics and have them rebuilt?  They are quite expensive, but definitely well-regarded.

For about the same money, you can get progressive rate fork springs. Those, and a change of fork oil weights, will do a lot more to tame the front end.
