Couldn't have asked for a better week, last week. 

Two nights in Cimarron.  Four nights in a house in Tres Piedras.  Nice, quiet, secluded.

Checked out Ojo Caliente one afternoon. Met some friends for dinner in Taos one night.  Rode the horses all over Tusas Ridge between 8,000 and 9,000 feet elevation.

I really enjoyed the Canadian national rally a few years ago. Once I was a bit north of the border, there was no traffic and the ride was very relaxing. The border crossing at Buffalo was not relaxing...

 Seriously , Delrod and I are already responsible for two NAR's every year , and while there is a belief that we don't put as much effort into the planning and execution of these as required for an "official" rally , we feed everyone , provide some mechanic services , plan and execute activities like museum visits and small group rides , provide rally T shirts , heck , last year at the Okie I even had to utilize my medic training .

I put on a Britbike rally at my place back in 2007, and have helped with other rallies.   

IF you are going to put on a rally, you need to be prepared to answer the following questions WITHOUT them raising your blood pressure to dangerous levels.  (All of these are actual quotes, and they weren't "smiling when they said that, pardner")

1)  "Do you have a vegan/Kosher/vegetarian/gluten-free meal option?   What?  Why not?  Are you not inclusive?  Don't you understand people's needs?"   (This AS dinner is being served).

2)  "I don't want to do the whole rally.   I just want to come in and visit on Friday night, camp Saturday night, and have breakfast Sunday morning.   Why do I have to pay the whole rally fee?"

3)  "This is too much money for a rally.   You should have free lap dances for the price you're charging.   Someone's getting rich off of this."

4)  "Why don't you have a trophy for 'Greatest Combined Age of Bike and Rider'?   We ALWAYS did one of those when I was running a rally.   That's pretty disappointing."

5)  "Hey, dude, what's going on here?  Y'all eating dinner?   Can I eat too?"  (Sure buddy, $5 would cover it).  "What the hell do you mean $5?   I ate here last week and they didn't charge me $5".

I'm not saying it's always like that, but be prepared to be a tactful diplomat OR ready to hurt someone's feelings .....

Again, my point exactly about A LOT of hard work and aggravation to put on any rally!

The best one was a few years ago at our AZ N.A.R., Friday night dinner, $5 and ALL the pizza and water / soft drinks one could eat and consume!   

Some cheap Guzzi "f*#k says to one of our guys...."Here's $1, as I am only going to have one slice..."  Luckily, it was not me...as I would have hit the roof!  Can you imagine?!? 

So I can absolutely relate to every one of Lannis comments...I have seen and heard that at rallies...embarrass ing, actually to witness such behavior!!

However, I don't get why Lannis is now called...."Taco" (???)

Given our joint propensity to enjoy and quote Clint Eastwood references here, allow me to modify Bill's suggestion of Taco and suggest Tuco instead!

Now...Devil's Tower does sound like a great location too, or for that matter, maybe we could converge on the town of Ten Sleep, I hear they have a good local brewery, I missed heading there on the last trip a couple of months ago, and now regret not doing the detour over to Devil's Tower also.

 It's strange , and have no idea what it means , but of the 7 Guzzi camp outs that Delrod and I have put on , and a couple of gatherings we had in East Texas years ago , I've heard no real grousing about the food , and we don't ever seem to have any trouble covering our nut and even donating some extra money to the forum and the City of Cedar Vale . Wait , maybe it is because either "The Turnip" or Stormtruck have been in charge of the complaint Dept , and Doug or Big Tony are in charge of collecting the money . It also helps if you send a very sweet young lady like David W's daughter around with the 50/50 tickets.LOL

I totally agree.  :1:  I've only helped as a volunteer at different Nationals.  Cooked at the Malibu one, meal ticket taker for dinners at NH and recently bike show attendant, all round help to close event.  Putting on an event and fronting the money, guessing how much food to order etc.  Not my thing.  Kudo's to the ones that can host an event.    I appreciate it and sympathize with the event holders.
