WOW
Your a betterman than me. I would have been straight off to hospital.

And while we are all having a good laugh at your expense, there is a sisnister side to these little fuckers.

They spread a very nasty disease called Limes Disease.

Avoid getting bitten by them at al costs if you can. Limes is extremely nasty.

Maybe Pete can fill us in on this one.
The Redback is a cousin of the black widow.

Redback spider bites Australian man on penis

Yep - Black Widows & Redbacks are closely related. And yes
Redbacks like places like outdoor Thunderboxes - when I was
a kid there was a song about the Redbacks under the Toilet Seat.

This post made people at work ask "what's wrong??" That's how bad my reaction was.

I've had tick bites too, I once had one bite me in February. I thought I got all the mouth parts out when I pulled it out, then in May it got infected and they had to cut out the entire piece that was infected. That's the only time I've had stiches in my skin so far. There wasn't even anything in the part they cut out. I hate those little bastards, always have, always will!

This happened many moons ago, long before Lyme disease became endemic in Texas.  No self surgery needed, no subsequent infection.  Complete recovery credited to prompt and decisive action during the attack.

Hang on, hang on - you got up from the table, determined
the "cause" - THEN you and your lady retired to the
bathroom for the operation!!

Don't suppose you were having say barbecued sausages?
That would round it out nicely.

Maurie.

Spaghetti with meatballs as I recall.  The Italian sausage was safely tucked away and recuperating.  :azn:

Actually I was more interested in just how you "confirmed"
the problem ………… so far you've only said you felt a pain in
the tip of your dick, jumped up and confirmed the problem,
asked for assistance and THEN retired to the bathroom.

What did you do? Flop it out on the table for inspection?
What did the other diners think?

Over here in oz we have all the good things that bite, from crocs, snakes, spiders, ants and ticks.
There is an increasing incidence of mammalian meat allergy from ticks, that means you become allergic to ALL red meat. Enforced vegetarian as a lifestyle anyone?
This seems to be caused by incorrect removal of the tick, causing it to vomit or leaving the head still buried. This injects an enzyme found in all animals the tick feed on, except humans, we don't carry that enzyme, so your immune system goes to town on it causing anything from a mild rash to aniphallaxis and possible death after eating red meat.
The current advice is to freeze the tick with wart remover or skin tag remover, this kills it and prevents it vomiting. Then you carefully remove it.
Full marks to attacking your scrotum with sharp implements, it probably ranks with cutting a limb off to escape whatever.
Cheers

Fair Dinkum? I hadn't heard that one - I know we have
Lymes Disease even if the Quacks say it doesn't exist in
Oz - what's it called?

Having your digerridoo sucked by a tick or any other kind of bug is less than fun.  Same goes for the bag.
Self surgery is impossible on your own bootie so you better have good friends.  I have done self surgeries on plantar warts on the bottom of my feet.  (I was more flexible in those days) I made my own surgical tools using a dremel and spring steel.  It was a sort of semicircular gouge to go deep enough to get the root of that bad boy.   It was a bloody and painful operation  but was successful in that it did not re occur.
I once set a broken bone in my own leg but I have told that story here about 5 or 6 years ago.  I only recommend you do such a thing if you have no other choice to get yourself out of the woods or other bad situation.

Best to monitor for symptoms.  Had three Lyme disease cases in the house, and a rocky mountain whatever it is fever on a field excursion on one of the campers from a weenie bite, ended up on ice and very very ill.

I can't wait for the saddle sore / monkey butt thread

That's a governor....the expression "balls to the wall" or "balls out" meant the throttle was opened to the point the spinning balls were nearly horizontal...any more an the governor would reduce pressure or cut the throttle or whatever to prevent engine damage or worse....you kids, I swear!

So our US and English friends, come on down, we can't have all the fun.......

Tick red meat allergy is a big problem in the US.A bite from the Lone Star tick can cause people to develop an allergy to red meat, including beef and pork.
From the "Allergist"
" This specific allergy is related to a carbohydrate called alpha-gal and is best diagnosed with a blood test. Although reactions to foods typically occur immediately, in the instance of allergic reactions to alpha-gal, symptoms often take several hours to develop. Owing to the significant delay between eating red meat and the appearance of an allergic reaction, it can be a challenge to connect the culprit foods to symptoms. Therefore, an expert evaluation from an allergist familiar with the condition is recommended. The Lone Star tick has been implicated in initiating the red meat allergy in the US and this tick is found predominantly in the Southeast from Texas, to Iowa, into New England".

a kid there was a song about the Redbacks under the Toilet Seat.

I have spider galore in my shop. I always vacuum the toilet inside and out even I do not vacuum any other place in the shop.
I would take the tick bit to the "sack" over a spider bite to the "sack" anytime. In either case it would be a sad "sack" story indeed.
I still have a little knot where that bugger broke off on my jewel holder.
