Any Sidecarists Out There?

I just enquired about the difference in insurance if I put a sidecar on and I was told it would actually cost MORE with a sidecar than without. Is this normal for everywhere else as well as BC (Canada)?

I've had sidecars in Calif. and it made no difference on insurance as it's considered an accessory to the MC.

Made no difference to us, but our Ural Retro came from the factory with a sidecar.

Here in Va. a sidecar is an accessory. Just buy some accessory insurance to cover the sidecar value. I have this on my car insurance to cover my trailers I use.

Same here in GA and in IL it's listed as an accessory .

:1: out here too. No additional charge to liability & no-fault but if you want full coverage. collision etc. cost more.

3 rides currently registered.
No coverage for replacing my bike, just injury and high liability.
The Ural Rig has a premium about 10% greater than the other two.
I'm paying about $150 each.
I assumed the heavier rig could do more damage.
Love my rig but it does not stop or turn as readily as my solo bikes.
Therefore represents more of a potential risk.
