Transport help/ideas?
« on: June 03, 2016, 07:50:40 PM »
If you followed my last help post, you know my bike is in bad shape. I need to transport it home to Atlanta if I can to decide at that time what to do with it.

Is there anyone in the Hartford area who happens to be traveling all, or part, of the way to Atlanta, who may be able to take the EV and cargo trailer for me? It'll cost me too much to rent a truck, and if I can't think of a cheap way to ship them, I probably won't.

Have you tried calling Haul Bikes to see if they might have a special running for a disabled bike?  Just a thought...

I've had a gentleman named Glenn Ebling haul a bunch of bikes for me. Always very reasonable, prompt and communicates very well. You might give him a call and see if he's available.

U-ship is worth a try.  A buddy of mine is a teacher and works every summer hauling jobs he gets from u-ship.  He watches the "need to ship, flexible on when" postings and does those cheap when he has an urgent haul on the same route.  Uses the urgent haul to make his base rate, and anything extra put in the trailer along the way is cake so if the shipper seems easy to work with he will add it for not a lot of cash.
