Rings for the Ambo
«
on:

My Ambo is a 1970 model.
It has an iron bore at 83mm diameter.
It has standard Guzzi pistons with 4 rings.
The two top ones are 2mm deep.
The middle one is 2.5mm deep.
The scraper oil ring is 5mm deep.
I have now mis-ordered twice from MG Cycle and realize that it's likely they don't have it.
I'm asking Harpers right now as they seem to list what I need but I don't know if they have the stock.
I can't track anything down at Teo Lamers or Stein Dinse.
So I'm holding my breath for Harpers.
Is there any advanced knowledge about these rings please?
If no luck there I may be forced to go to generic ring manufacturers.
Cheers,
Dan

custom made rings? Leave out the third from the top ring? look at the wiseco catalog, they sell all manner of rings. with an iron bore, you could use just about any material ring.

I can probably help, but haven't found email or phone message about rings. You may have a non original piston, there were three different piston manufacturers that could have been used if for some reason the engine had ever had a failure. Call me at 816.697-3411

Well so far I have diddly squat.
No reply from Deves or Harpers so I'm wondering if there is a set of rings anywhere for me.
I sent a second request to Deves. Do they take a long time to answer?
It would be a shame if I can't use what I have with pistons and barrels as they are still very serviceable.

Did you call Curtis like he asked?
There are questions he needs answers to in order to get you the correct rings

Hi Mike,
No I haven't made a phone call, just email, from Oz the phone is a bit difficult but I will try tomorrow if required.
The dimensions are fairly straightforward. They are the same as the set shown on the Deves site called MC121. The bore is 83mm. The two top rings are 2mm deep. The third is 2.5mm deep and the fourth ring, the oil ring is 5mm deep. That's it.
I see you also list a set with the same number here:
https://www.harpermoto.com/p-rings-4p-set-use-mc-121-13060600.html
I'm guessing this is the right set but I want confirmation as no sizes are shown in your listing.
Thanks for your reply.
Cheers,
Dan

OK, Sorry I did not pick up on the fact that you are in OZ.
Curtis just saw your email and will follow up with you this morning.
Thanks
