Spam!!! Chuck from Indiana's sweet Strada for sale
« on: June 19, 2016, 05:43:11 PM »
Hi,  SPAM ALERT, SPAM ALERT (cant find the icon)
With sorrow, I must let my wonderful Strada go. I bought it from Chuck after he well sorted it. It has 33,400 miles on it and new FAC's, Rich Maund seat etc, and many other Chuck fixes. I bought it to tour with my wife. But she had back surgery to keep riding and it did not work, she is now fully disabled, and the Strada just gets ridden occasionally. I have a list of all the things Chuck did to it, but it is safe to say, it is sorted.  I live north of Los Angeles in Valencia.  Anyone is welcome to come by and take it for a day or two to check it out, I am also confident that it would be a good buy and fly, if so, I would first replace the battery (I will do that), I have not been good to it as far as keeping it charged. Should anyone be interested, feel free to PM me, email me at jdmargrave@aol.com or call me at 818.675.5094     I would like to get north of $3K OBO which is less than I paid for it, but I want it to go to someone who can appreciate what a great bike it truly is.   If this is an inappropriate post, let me know and I will delete it, I just thought that someone here may really like a Givi bagged Strada that has no warts.
Thank you,

Just a bit more SPAM, this is a great bike, the list of what Chuck did to it is extensive, does not leak a drop of oil and everything works. If you are in the Western US, I could deliver it as well. Great bike, but my wife and I will never be on it together, and the Rich Maund seat was one of the selling points.  If you are interested at all, contact me. it is a gem, and I am flexible on price.
Best wishes, and thank you,
Jon

I would suggest that model represents the end of what the T3 started....no other standards until the new V7...

for curiosity sake, what is the skinny on the Strada 1000?  Chuck mentioned that the bike had a lot of LeMans in it.  How is the Strada different from the 1000S other than body work?

Here is what the Strada had done by Chuck, I changed the oil

Strada
5-11-10   28072 km. New Sport Demons. Wurth on rear drive splines.  Went through electrical system.New Deka AGM battery. Ran ground wire from regulator to engine. Previously installed new digiplex. Previously installed new plugs.  Installed new single throw relay on start circuit. Not the correct one for the digiplex.. need a double throw for all, really. Air cleaner serviced in 03. J Changed fluids, 3 ½ qt. Vavoline 20-50 in engine, 250cc redline in rear drive, 750cc Mobil 1 in transmission. Flushed and bled brakes, dot 4. Installed new needle$ and seats in carbs, synced. New fuel hoses and new selector valves. Repaired rf turnsignal. Cleaned rust and corrosion, polished and waxed.
5-24-10   Continued cleaning coils to get the dielectric grease out. Twice today, maybe one more time will get it. I hope.
6-16-09   29170 New Valtec timing chain tensioner chasing a noise. Need better earplugs. J New relay from Jim Figgins.
6-20-10   29350 Put 30cc rear end lube in u joint boot.
7-26-10   29624 New steel cage input and output bearings in transmission. Re filled with Costal 80-90. Changed rear drive to Costal 80-90 with moly. Repaired front brake light switch. U joint and carrier bearing ok, lubed all drive splines with Wurth Sig3000. Brushed a mixture of moly60 and chain lube on the clutch splines and input gear. New Rich Maund seat.
8-9-11   30250 New headlight bulb from Tim Smith.
9-29-11   30910 Mistral crossover. New fork seals. Filled with 70cc Mobil1 0-30 each leg per Guzzi tech.
10-5-11   31210 New timing chain.
1-14-12   31217 Went through electrical system, and added ground to sidestand relay. Moved the relay connector to the correct position. Replaced relay with correct one. Hmm, seems to be working normally.. J
2-2-11   31217 Fixed connector on kill switch relay. Rejetted carbs. Original setup: K27 needle with clip on 3rd notch. 5mm cutaway. Idle jet 55 main jet 130 needle jet 261AB. Changed to: K18 needle with clip on 3rd notch, idle jet 50, main jet 142, needle jet 268AB. If mileage suffers, Charles from LC says he’s running the same setup with 52 idle, stock 130 main, 6mm cutaway.
5-10-12   31409 Changed oil, filter. UFI 149. Adjusted valves .004 and .006. Inspected valve train, ok.
8-31-13   32445 Balanced flywheel. Changed oil, 3L Valvoline 20-50. Filter, UFI 149. 750cc Coastal 80-90 in transmission, 230cc Coastal 80-90 plus 20cc Kalguard in drive box. New front and rear crankshaft seals.
Also has new FAC's

I did put a few scratches in the tank in my garage shuffle, so I am lowering the price to $2500

LowRyter,
Don't know the cosmetic differences, but I think the rolling frame and big carbs are the same. it has a mean pull in the mid range that surprised me for a carbed tonti.   Don't know if Chuck will chime in, but I really cant tell you the differences.  I do know the Strada with the Rich Maund seat is really comfortable for anyone under 6.2 feet tall, and it handles great.  And it is funky for a Guzzi, I like that

If you put several Vario parts on it, does it become a Stradavarious?  That would make it sound especially musical.

I believe that is a 93 Strada, so it's the same as a 93-1000S except the frame is kicked up in the back so if someone wanted to convert the bike that  would be a minor problem.  This bike has the tubeless rims, so that is a plus. Nice bike, good price.

No... a Strada with various parts as this has is a Stradavarious

Thanks for the opportunity to reach out to the guzzi community, I have tentatively sold the 93 Strada to a great guzzisti and am pulling it off the market.  I will miss it, but without my wife to enjoy it with me, I will enjoy my other Guzzi.  I will have gone from owning at one time an Eldo, a Cal SS, an SP, a Breva, an 02 Lemans, and a Griso, plus a some Japanese sport bikes, also gone. the Cal SS is my keeper, all the rest were great bikes, but my Cal SS is my favorite in its current configuration
Thanks again,
Jon
