pazzo levers for V7 ~ does it fit your grip?
« on: June 19, 2016, 07:49:37 PM »
Last year, or the year before, I installed an adjustable brake lever. Things went sideways the other day and I dropped my bike off the centre stand during a service session. (much longer story involving autoimmune crash and loss of muscle mass)
The fancy lever broke right at the hinge. Break-off point is still intact; if ever I dropped that lever again.
Digging in the 'box of before' I replaced the broken after-market with the original lever. It fits me; but not well.
I am one of those people who prefer to ride with at least two fingers on the front lever. Unfortunately arthritis sets the limit of my reach.
What I've found is the previous adjustable lever wasn't dramatically shorter in throw than the OEM lever. I want better.
.... but Pazzo is a bit rich for my wallet.  Before I spring $200 for levers I'd like feed back from early adopters. Are these levers as good as the marketing? Are they significantly closer to the bar while still returning a full range of 'stopping power"?
Thanks in advance.
Yukonica.

Look for a set on e-bay from China/Hong Kong. About $21.00 shipped.
Very nice and cheap. I'm running a set on my Norge.

I've got a set of Pazzo's on my Aprilia TBH not overly impressed, the full length are not quiet full length keep grabbing the ball of the lever between my  3rd and 4th finger. I have a set of ISR levers, think they are available under a couple of different names, which have a lot greater range of adjustment with much finer detents given the choice I'd take them over the Pazzo's they are also the folding type.

Whoops sorry not ISR these http://www.nolimitstrading.eu/motorcycle-levers/#.V2fucFdEdBw evo 2 version NFI if they are available for the V7, they are available for an MGS-01 :)

I got the Pazzo shorty levers for my V11s. The feel and adjustability are very good. MotoMummy has good prices on various brands - but they did not list my Guzzi, so I had to figure out what other bikes used the same levers and pretend I had a Ducati when placing my order.

Love the EVO3 levers. :) 'MotoGP styling for improved aerodynamics' .... just what my V7 calls for. ... I'll be stuffing Rossi into the gravel in no time.
If I were building exclusively for function those are the most adjustable levers I've ever seen. (Also the most expensive)

Had never heard of MotoMummy.... they have a lot of very cool stuff. Site is now bookmarked in my Vendor folder. Thanks.

I've had good experience with Pazzo levers and the seller in New York, been a few years but good product and good customer service.  If China makes em, I am a guzzi guy, so I would at least look.... just sayin

Hard call; that one. There certainly is a pride/benefit in being thrifty.
However, thus far, not one Chinese Corporation has employed me so I don't feel any debt of gratitude in that direction.
I do feel obligated to support those whose efforts and taxes support my infrastructure.
(As a Yukoner I can say Chinese Corp arrived North to exploit then run. Big mines, big cash-out... no cleanup.)
My position isn't based in xenophobia; it is about hiring the next generation or buying from people like the sponsors of this site. In perpetuity.
Suspender snapping pride in thrift, for me, is knowing where to get the best deal from people within the tribe....

... probably get my wanker slapped for being political. oh well.

They are a decent mid-range lever and are made in Canada, so it sounds like they are perfect for you. I have had them on a couple of bikes now and prefer the shorty. Shorties are good for 2 finger grips and have a decent amount of adjustability. I like my levers as close to the bar as possible.

Thank you.
I think I was already 'there' but wanted some real world confirmation that the product would meet my expectations.
This isn't an emergency repair. I'm willing to spend (sorry, suspenders self-snapped here) as long as the results meet my criteria.
$600 for Sato rearsets sounded expensive for example, (I also installed Brevattato bars), until I re-arranged the pegs so I could easily lift my foot off the peg at a stop..... a fairly important part of riding as far as I' concerned.

I was lucky enough to have one of the Ghetoistti give me a pair of *Real* Pazzo's for my Griso. I'd previously been using the cheap knock-offs simply because, well, they were cheap and supposedly offered a greater range of adjustment to the stock levers.

The main problem with the knock-offs was that their 'Adjustability' was short lived. Despite my taking them to bits and lubing the cam mechanism before installation within a month or so, (In a dry Aussie summer!) they had seized up to the point they were no longer adjustable! Not really a problem as by then I'd worked out where I wanted them but still pretty crap.

The other thing that really impressed me with the Pazzo's was their feel. Perhaps this wouldn't be as important to people who haven't a.) Spent their life using hand tools. And b.) Don't have arthritic hands! But the *Feel* of the Pazzo's is superb. While I'd been seriously considering upgrading to a radial mc for the front brakes I now feel with my limited ability and increasing imprecision of control due to the joint problems that this can happily be put on the back-burner. While I always worried about squeezing a bit too hard with the knock-offs the gloves move so easily on the Pazzo's that I find myself braking with the sort of confidence I had ten or fifteen years ago. Really, I'm that impressed!

Whether others would need or appreciate that sort of subtlety I can't possibly say but for me the *Real* Pazzo's are the shitz!

Thank you Pete. I believe you've covered every concern I had.
Arthritis sucks. Sorry we share that ailment. Glad we both still ride. (even if only shorter jaunts).
Cheers.
Don.
