videos of dyna III install?
« on: June 22, 2016, 05:33:51 PM »
Does anyone have a link to a video of a Guzzi Dyna III electronic ignition install? I have a Dyna III coming for my T-3, and I've read the installation instructions on-line several times, but I learn best by seeing things done first. Alternatively, any videos of a Guzzi with a distributor having ignition timing adjusted? The instructions in Haynes, etc. are fine as far as they go, but I would feel much  more comfortable watching it done first...

Youtube wasn't much help, though I did find a video, in French, with a thousand views, of a dude pressing the starter button on his dyne-equipped moto guzzi. It started right up. Illuminating!

A word of warning about coils on the Dyna. Use the black 5 ohm or if you already have 3 ohm then add 2 ohm condensers.

" Friend of mine just went to the Parts Unlimited show in Wisconsin and talked to he Dyna rep. Out of his mouth: "the guzzi system has a problem overheating the 3ohm coils and need to run off of the 5 ohm coil" my dad has burnt up 2 of the 3 ohm coils and is now talking the advice of the Dyna rep and upgrading to the 5 ohm coils.
Bummer that he didn't ask if the "Guzzi System problem" has anything to do with 1 out of 3 Dyns (as polled here some years ago) installed (long term) in Guzzis suddely burning up the Black Box, Not the (either 3 or 5 Ohm) coils..."

I have burned through 2 or 3 coils and a black box on those 3 ohm coils. No more 3 ohm for me.

3.35 ohms. I've had 15,000 miles of service from my Dyna + original coils.
