Those guys have been doing cool stuff with their robots.

But, if the European Union is successful in declaring robots as individuals, we are doomed.  :)

Bender the robot had a interesting personality. Type A something.

IBM just announced their first commercial AI application .... legal assistant. And another one for a medical assistant.

The hard part was understanding what people needed by what they were talking about. Giving a robot a personality helped in situations communicating with different humans.

I recall reading a study done long ago that showed most people have a preference for a slightly abrasive personality type. Bender light version kinda.

 It's probably solar and lays in the sun to charge up, just like your older cat.
