Bye-bye..."Root Beer Float!"
« on: June 26, 2016, 08:05:24 AM »
Yesterday, I SOLD my 1978 Honda GL1000 (aka "The Root Beer Float") to a new owner in the Verde Valley. :cool:  I had fun with it over the years, but it was time to move on.  I need the money to fix up our new digs in Sedona, and I will get another cool motorcycle to take its place in the near future. :wink:

Like I have often said in the past, we are only just caretakers of these fine machines. :cool:  A few images in its memory...(photos by JJC)

That is a nice looking bike. Hopefully, the new owner keeps it that way.

Good looking bike JJ.  Was that the last year Honda had a naked Goldwing?

Very nice, thanks for sharing the photos and story. I love those old Hondas, but haven't quite narrowed down which year/model to get if I were to go there. That one looks like a great choice!

1979...by 1980...the GL1100 "morphed" into "The Interstate"...and the rest, as they say...is history. :cool: :thumb:

@ Tom - I saved my money...over the last 35+ years...."slaving" like a Big Dog in the "soul-draining" corporate world of the cyclical semiconductor industry. :tongue: :shocked:  :rolleyes:

...and guess what?  I will be 62 in August...and I am still working full-time!! :cool: :tongue:  traveling domestically and internationally...l ike the same Big Dog carrying a black bag that I was 20 years ago!! :cool: :thumb:

That's nice... :cool:

I have a 2014 Victory Vision, (my 2-up touring bike), and "The Yellow Horse", (my '98 V10 Centauro GT sport Guzzi), so who knows?

*Maybe another cool vintage bike?
* Maybe another modern Triumph?
* Maybe a cool 150cc restored Vespa or Lambretta to cruise around town?
* Maybe a small displacement, dual-sport bike like a Yamaha TW200?
* Maybe another interesting Guzzi (I will definitely keep the Centauro GT for a bit...)
* Other ???
