Moto Guzzi ownership.... A tip
« on: July 10, 2016, 01:32:35 AM »
When you get back from a ride. Don't go back out to shift the thing in the drive wearing shorts until it's cooled down.... Burnt me bloody knees!!  :thewife:

Good ride today though even though it rained and the council have gritted some of the roads!

Tip number two:  warn little boys enamored with pretty chrome engines not to touch the fins.

Good news is little boys heal fast.

Here's my tip; remember to put the kickstand down.

I rode all afternoon and then returned to the house.

Pulling back into the driveway flooded my mind with everything; the responsibilities, chores, things I needed to do.

Shutting down the engine, taking off my helmet, etc, I stepped off the bike...and it fell over.

Tip number four:
Don't try to put a Norge on it's center stand while wearing flip flops. Didn't hurt myself or the bike but it just doesn't work.

Go to some rallies, even if you're not the rally type. Pretty wild, folks up past 11pm!

Nor your LeMans IV.

The two aforementioned non partakers have good reasons for not doing so , mostly we don't want anyone to think we are complete idiots  No problem with anyone else partaking  :boozing:

I have a piece of wood 10 x 10" x 1" thick on the floor and if I'm wearing things like that I just run the back wheel onto it and the bike basically "falls" onto the centrestand, and as it moves backwards it rolls off the wood.

TIP: Don't put a bike cover on your motorcycle right after the ride (when bike is hot). I did that and this Wednesday have to take it to the dealer so new head pipes will be installed. This is the evidence https://youtu.be/QDtNoS2-kNE, relevant part starts at 0:55 and ends at 1:55. Judging by the number of holes in the cover the damage could be more severe.

Three of us shut down the campfire at the John Day National at 3:15A.  Made the next day kind of long.     Had a short nap of 3 hours.

Tip- do not check oil on your Stelvio using a micro-fiber towel.
Tip- Easy off oven cleaner will remove burnt micro-fiber towel from header.

Never ride your Breva in to it's allotted space, flick out the side stand and lean it over so that the hot pipe leans on the plastic paint tray that you just washed out before you went for your ride.

However, I have found that if you go for a spirited ride of about 440kms, plastic will turn to carbon and just brush off. :thumb:
