No better way to spend a Sunday morning
« on: July 10, 2016, 03:46:01 PM »
6AM Sunday morning. It's dull outside; grey clouds, misty with a little drizzle. Back to bed or go for a ride......hmmm.

I choose ride - and it is magnificent. The bike seems to like the cool, damp air. The roads are empty. There's just enough moisture to mist the visor so I lift it and feel the mist on my skin.

The wet road slips by. The bike sounds wonderful reverberating off the rocks. I feel alive. It's always worth it.

Nick

Riding in a light rain is fun when there is no traffic , in fact better than a bright sunny day  :thumb:
Thanks Nick

That wet wooden bridge deck made me tense up and my knuckles get white, and that was just on the keyboard ... !!!

Hello again Lannis - I missed you.

Actually, it isn't too bad. I just take it easy and have never felt any slips.

I guess it's because last time I dropped a bike it was on a wooden bridge deck.   In that case, it was ice on the deck where there was NO ice anywhere else, on a bridge crossing a trout stream on a 30-degree day in December climbing up to the BRP on my Centauro.

Roads had been dry for weeks, no ice anywhere, but the condensation from the stream had settled on the deck and frozen and you couldn't even walk on it, much less ride a bike across it, as I found to my dismay from my seat in the ditch on the other side of the bridge ....

I feel the same about wet steel ferryboat decks ...!

BTW - while I make no claims for the quality of the pictures and certainly not for the composition, these are from my cell phone (Samsung Galaxy S5) then  resampled down to half original size.

It's crazy how good the cameras in modern cell phones have become.

I agree. Rode with my friend Carl for half the day, split off on my own later. Just can't seem to get enough of my Morini. 344 miles through MD, WV, VA and PA.
