I have some non-Guzzi motorcycling assistance contacts in Duluth and in Owen Sound, ON, but nobody closer. Like Dusty said, info on the nature of the problem and more details on your needs would help us help you.

 Hi Dusty,

Startud interuptis

I was hoping for a local guy with a pick up truck and or someplace to bring it Someone knowledgeable

For some reason this bike never liked being shut off while in gear Stop along side of road with riding buddy and shut it off in gear Now no fuel pump activity
I checked all the fuses I knocked on all the relays We pulled out the ignition switch and all connections are solid.  Battery good
Turn the key and nothing happens no dash lights headlights blinkers and taillights work

 Hi Dusty,

Startud interuptis

Turn the key and nothing happens no dash lights headlights blinkers and taillights work

Giusto!

FYI - THIS MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN.

It sounds to me like don't have Startus Interruptus (which only effects the STARTER CIRICUIT), but you've got a problem with either:

1. Your ignition switch
2. Your main battery connections.

Just so you know my 2000 Jackal suffered an intermittent ignition switch failure by about the summer of 2006.

It was intermittent bad contacts in the switch itself.

It occurred to me hundreds of miles and a few states from home on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I temporarily fixed it while I was on the road by cutting all the wires going into the switch and rewiring them with some toggle switches I got in a local hardware store. One switch powered the ignition, the other switch powered the light circuit.

Anyway, as soon as I got home I ordered and installed a new ignition switch and it never happened again.

So when/if it happens again, if the battery connections are all good, then check the ignition switch itself. You MIGHT have luck playing with the switch ON/OFF-ON/OFF etc. (as it self cleans) or you might just turn it really slowly hoping it will catch. In my case, once it started worked again I quickly confirmed it was the switch by tapping on it lightly with a screwdriver with the motor running. Tapping on it caused the ignition to miss, proving it was the switch.

RIDE SAFE!

This is not the classic startus interruptus - if it were, the fuel pump and dash lights would work but the starter (and only the starter) would not. Kev's suggestion is well worth checking on a bike of that age, especially since there seem to be circuits completed to some things and not to others.

It could be your stand relay, 3rd from rear, swap it with relay 1 if it's a 5 pin otherwise pull relay 3 and poke a wire from 30 to 87A. (87A is the middle one of the 3 small pins, 30 is furtherest away. Even if you have the stand switch disconnected the 87A relay contacts can play up.
If you have the switch disconnected the relay is doing nothing anyway, you might as well jumper it out.

 ---- 30
 ---- 87
|  |  | 87A is the middle one at the bottom, jumper 30 to 87A

Hold up, you said no dash lights, that has to be the ignition switch I think, if it's just one of the contacts causing a problem you could jamb a wire in fuse 2 and jamb the other end in the common of fuse 3 & 4, this would effectively put both switch contacts in parallel.

This sketch might help

A couple of possible fixes

Good Luck

If it's cranking over, check that the fuel pump relay or fuse isn't the problem.  Could even be fuse contact (a problem I've had twice)

I just spent a few days in Thunder Bay (with family), back home now, which is why I missed this thread until now. For future reference, for anyone in similar circumstances in Northern Ontario, try the Northern Riders thread in the Canada section on the advrider forum. There's lots of local riders that post there and can be a valuable source of info (for all marques).

cover the front fender with a rag and drowned the ignition switch with electrical contact cleaner work the key and do it again. also there is a quick disconnect under the right side chrome steering head cover that might be corroded or burnt through. 10 years or 60000 miles plus and it seems the EV's have this happen.
if this doesn't do it try to disconnect or adjust the side stand switch as mentioned above.

KevM has a handle on it.  Had the ignition switch die on the Strada.  I had to bypass the entire switch to get the bike going.  All tested with a multi-meter and checking the wiring.  Some of the power connections to the main part of the loom were corroded and look like they were connected and working.  Took some time playing around with it.  I still need to work on the turn signals.

The Hoito is still there, although last year it was reportedly suffering from huge debt.

Cross-corner from there is the Madhouse Tavern, a bar/eatery owned by a local bike guy. Lots of the local adventure rider types have been known to collect there.
