I have put on a few COG rallies at BRMC so I am familiar with the campground and the riding area.

What is this Centauro Owners Group Rally you speak of?

Centauro Owner's Group?  That would be you right?

I'm guessing he rides/rode a Connie.

For me I have a conflict this year and thought, much to you guy's happiness I'm sure, I would miss my first Cruso rally in 10 years.  But alas, the stars have aligned and looks like I will be able to come up early Sat morning and aggravate everyone.  I'm sure I can buy my way into good graces with some booze  :boozing:

I couldn't get away today, but plan on riding up tomorrow morning, arriving around 2ish.

How's the weather? Has the pond filled back up from last summer? Has Muley found a couch?

Had the same problem but I'm now loaded up and ready for a 7am departure.  Doubt we'll see Muley.

Tom

I just left his room.

Dean is in great spirits under the circumstances of being in a hospital room when he had hoped to be at a rally.

His spirits may be attributable to having possibly the best looking nurses on the planet. I get concentration camp guards when I'm in the hospital. Dean gets umbrella girls!

He hopes to be able to respond here on his condition soon, but that may be a few days.

Thanks Bill. If the nurses are that nice, Dean may never get out of there. Good to hear he is in reasonable spirits.

A couple of us stopped by to harass him on Saturday. They had him on feel good medicine. He wasn't complaining.
Looking it his bike, it looked like it had just fallen over in the wet grass. So he took most of the abuse.

Hey all, here are a couple of pics from Saturday.
GREAT event, nice people.
I hope everyone had a safe & mostly dry ride home. I made it to Charlotte 30 minutes before an absolute deluge.

It was a great time as usual. Despite the worry some expressed last week the weather couldn't have better, not to hot during the day and near perfect at night. I managed the whole weekend with nothing more than a few spritzings. (that is where you see the rain drops on the windscreen ans your knees get a little damp, but nothing else).

I left later Friday than I intended, actually I had planned to leave on Thursday and ride over to Deal's Gap on Friday he who shall re main nameless AKA as my TM approved my vacation but didn't take me off the schedule. Any way it worked out well I went up 226 from Shelby to the Devil's whip to pick-up the BRP both were fun roads and I had almost not traffic impeding my progress on all three roads. I even got to look at an old Dodge pickup I've been watching on Craigslist.

As I said almost no holdups that is until a couple miles East of Asheville. So when I saw the sign for the Folk Art Center I decided I had always wanted to see it or would have had I known it existed.

Nobody seemed to have any firm plans so having never been to the Dragon I hopped on my Italian steed to go slay the beast. Again the Lord smiled on me I really didn't have much traffic to Deal with apparently somebody even slower than my was keeping the real speed merchants off my tail and the few that were slowed than my all pulled into lookouts ahead of me. Was it worth the near 300 mile round trip, probably not but as the old saying goes BTDTGTT-S.

I had some charging problems with the phone so I didn't get as many pictures at the campground as usual. Bu I did get a shot of Mark announcing that this was his last year heading up the Rally after 24 year, next year he will be a civilian just like the rest of us. So in closing I like to say thanks Mark. See ya next year. (Clink link if you want to see pictures)

Made it to the BMC early afternoon on Thursday. Got a good soaking between Murphy and Franklin as I came over the mountain.

Some beautiful roads and places to ride.

Lunch at the Pisgah Inn.

 The jury is still out in regard to whatever this is.

All in all it was a great weekend with great weather and good folk. Dean, hope you get back on your feet soon.

Mark, thanks for another great rally and kudos to the folks who keep the wheels turning at the BMC.

Yeah Steve- no tickets because you were too far gone by the time that Stater got turned around.  When he whipped around everybody -me included - slowed down pronto. But by that time you had a high mach number and was out of sight. That was great!

He crashed on his way to the NC rally and was taken to the hospital in Asheville, and it looks like he hasn't posted anything since...

This is the same guy that build the "sideways", like in Harley,  Ambo motored and Norton transmissioned bike a few years ago. He has now sawed half of the motor off, and is riding the bike as a 375cc Guzzi single!

Hey Guys, the old dog is back.
Yeah, I sorted of punted the bike only a mile from the campground. The rain and road conditions is what I’m blaming it on. I ended up in Mission Hospital in Ashville with five cracked ribs, a punchered lung, broken scapula and a fractured ankle. All of this on my left side. Cindy brought me home today, they kept me so long to prevent Pneumonia, had to have a tube in the chest to get the blood out.
Still in a bit of pain, haven’t even looked at the Breva yet. It will be a while before I’m back on two wheels, we’ll see how it goes.

OK, glad you are back home!  At least 60 days rest yet before riding. I'll bet you are sleeping sitting up or in a recliner.
I had same injuries w/I hit the ditch, but I was only 50. I got out in 3 days.
Keep working that old body & you'll be OK.

Hey Dean, welcome back! My son is a nurse at Mission and I tried to get some info outta him, but he's in the cardiac wing and couldn't get anything. Sorry you had to stay there so long, but glad you're home again and healing up. Bill Hagan said you had some real babes as nurses.

Word is that the Breva took a good slide thru wet grass, but isn't hurt too badly. There's no rush to find out for now, just chill and get back on your feet again.  :thumb:
