Hey All

There is a favourable review of the Guzzi Bagger in Motorcycle Mojo magazine this month.

Their worst complaint was the heavy steering at parking lot speeds. Also noted were the smallish paniers and their inability to figure out the ABS settings.

I still think it's fugly, but each to their own.

Just saw one in the flesh on my way after work today. What a beast. I really like a lot of it and I guess the rest would grow on me, only thing I thought was odd was the front wheel..

As has been stated in previous threads, it looks much better in person. i think due to the non-reflective carbon fiber, etc., it is difficult to photograph well. This is Luap's at the recent Okie rally.

The 1st 125 miles felt good today into Reno, up Geiger Grade to Virginia City, down Six Mile Canyon Rd & backhome on U.S. 50. It is indeed a sport tourer in bagger guise. The 21" front wheel is more noticible at slower speeds & requires a bit more of a push on the inside bar in the curves but any new bike requires a get acquainted period. The bike feels GOOD. Exceleration is immediate & strong. The pulses seem more frequent & less intrusive than the H-D FLD I traded (which I liked & did a lap of the U.S. on this summer). The early 2 niggles I noticed today was no self canceling turn signals. Not a big factor but a bit of a surprise with all the gadgetry. BUT most noticeble was the almost lack of a horn. I can yell louder. The cruise is a bit abrupt when canceling but again, just an adjustment. Again, the bike feels GOOD & I'm glad I made the move.

Must be a modern Guzzi thing. My 8V Norge horn is the same. The first time I needed it at speed I could not hear it and thought it was not functioning. When I tried it at zero speed with engine idling I could barely hear it. Very un-Itialian like.

I don't understand why Guzzi wont install a real horn. I've had to upgrade every horn for every Guzzi I've had (10 so far). For my MGX, I went with the Wolo from O'Reilly. They're a direct mount, they're red, and they're loud. See the picture above. They match so well they look factory. The cruise is a bit tricky, but I've learned to cancel by tapping the front brake. It's much more smooth. Plus, I've noticed that with miles it gets better as well. I remember reading in one of the reviews that they wish the bike had a resume. I was pleased to discover that holding the cruise button up for a second is the resume function. Nice.

Only two things that didn't make sense to me were the stupid USB port that won't charge a device and the lack of a 12V accessory plug. I remedied that by yanking the USB port out and putting my Walmart LED running light rocker switch in that compartment and installing a 12V plug on the left handlebar. Now I'm set.

This is quickly becoming my favorite Guzzi behind my 98 EV that I sold with 90K miles on the clock.

The turn signals on my 1400 Eldorado are self cancelling, are you all SURE the MGX-21 does not?

When I wasn't sure if they canceled or not I purposely left them on after a couple turns & rode further than it would take to typically self cancel before canceling them myself.
This bike feels SO GOOD underway!😀

Interesting. I just checked & my USB port has no power either. I like things to work as designed so need to find out what's up with the USB ports. Anybody else besides Laup & me?🤔

Easy.

They are set up to talk to the entertainment system, but not set up to also charge the device.

No way was I going to spend another $600 on the light kit. I installed a 4 LED 20W system from Walmart. Paid less than $30 for them. I didn't buy them necessarily to see better, but to be seen better. They are very bright though.

Here's a couple photos. The red horns were a direct mount. Took < 5 minutes tops. The lights took a little time, but with the way the fairing folds it made it clean. I mounted them to the bottom of the fairing using heavy duty 3M double-sided tape that holds up to 30 lbs, to avoid drilling in this $22K beast. I ended up putting the rocker switch (illuminated red) inside the usb cover. Part of me wishes I shimmed it out to where when I closed the USB lid, it would kill the running lights. May be a winter project.

Interesting. Mine are on and sound great! But....mine weren't a direct mount. They hit the plastic center cover so with 9mm spacers they're good to go. Thanks for the heads up!

What bolts do I need to release so that the fairing folds over?
