poster states he has a bad back and it sat in his garage for the last 2 years and carbs are fouled.. it idles but don't go..
note low mileage...It has luggage not shown.. I might look at it Saturday..
I do know the carbs are a bear to get out, is that a reason to pass..

also there is a Scorpion locally near my price range,

If I was close, I'd buy both! :-)

Yes, the carbs are a bit of pain to get out and back in, but I wouldn't let that deter me from buying the Pegaso. Having done it several times on my brother's, I can give you some pointers if you'd like.

I'll let Chuck fill you in on the pitfalls of the Skorpion. ;-)

On the Skorpion.......I use to have a Sport model....... big time fun in the twisties. One of the  best handling bikes I have owned. $1400 IS CHEAP.....but it looks a little crusty in the pictures and I didnt notice the mileage.

The MZ is a great bike but too much DR650 overlap, and the DR is a better (if slower) bike.

Tell me, Chuck, the pitfalls of a Skorpion, since I've owned 1 for years.   And just last month rode my Tour 2,400+ miles to the Guzzi National pretty much trouble free getting 55-60 mpg on 87 gas.  :whip2:

I raced a Skorpion for three years but I've never had the opportunity to ride one on the street.  It was a helluva lot of fun on the track.

I'd jump on that one if it were a lot closer.

I had a Skorpion Sport Cup.  Looked great, but my shoulders couldn't take the racing crouch for long rides.  I found the big single engine to have too much engine braking, and surprisingly, it performed best above 4k rpm.    For a single cyl, it wasn't a low rpm "putter" but a high rpm speed bike.

A good contact for parts is Bikeworx, of Hudson, MA.  Galen the owner, formerly raced MZ and was a dealer before the brand sadly collapsed.

Rode around on the Funduro.  Beemer badged Pegaso.  Great bike and it does move.

Uh... If you can get a Skorpion for a reasonable price.. just do it.
Downsides? Ok. They are hard to get parts for. Yamaha powerplant but it's a European Yahama. I finally got a carb kit out of Poland.
As Sign 216 sez, it's a high rpm single, and happiest at the redline. They say it's 50 hp. Suuuure it is.  I'd say the Monza would give it a go.
You think a Guzzi is hard to sell? Try selling an orphan.  As nearly as I can tell, they have no value on the resale market.
That said, I took mine out to SoCal to live out it's remaining life in the canyons. It would be hard to find a better bike for that duty.
