BUB muffler question...straight thru?
«

Are BUB mufflers supposed to bean open shot through the baffles? Mine are, no sign of any removed interior reflector type baffle but I was something in there to create some back pressure.
I am going to replace the main baffles with kit from Cycle Gear. Do I need to do anything else? Quieter the better for this here old guy.
Thanks.

Mine are wide open since I bought them in 1990. Love the sound but it's not my only bike

There's a straight shot through them with baffles in the sides.

My first pair were straight thru and quite loud (nice!). They fell apart sadly. They were an older type with visible welds where the cones meet the straight rear section. The pair I have now, a newer type, where the shape is formed into the pipe, not welded up of different sections. They too are straight through, but thy are well packed, and are surprisingly quiet.

Someone might love to trade mufflers and you & both people turn out for the better! I bet they might pay shipping both ways for the trade!
No cost for the goal at hand, to quite your bike down as much as possible.
