jackal fueling issue

I'm posting for a buddy who just bought an 01 Jackal . At a steady an even throttle the engine sputters but as soon as more gas is given the bike runs fine and pulls without a miss .
He's had the throttle bodies balanced and replaced the fuel filter .
The bike was temporarily better after the throttle bodies where balanced but shortly after is back to the same sputtering when at steady throttle only .
I'm wondering if air is getting in somewhere !?
Any suggestions as to what the problem is will be appreciated .

He says it's fine while under throttle but while cruising at an even speed it stumbles and is not smooth . It's definitely a little rough at low revs .
Hard to define when it's not my ride . I told him to sign up here and get the goods first hand from you guys .

  :1: Of course I go back to my original question , mine runs fine at any thing above 2K RPM's , but is a bit fluffy below that . No tach , just guessing at the engine speed , but betting that figure is close . Opening the throttle always cleans things up .

You should not chug along like a Harley can, tell your bud to rev it up, run a lower gear or two.
Could spray something around the intake path to look for air leak.
And possibly the TPS needs a reset.

That's a good idea and will pass along .
I know the TPS was diagnosed and set when he had the throttle bodies balanced at Valley Moto .

I would have expected them to reset the TPS as part of the balancing (as the adjustments would affect the TPS adjustment), but I wouldn't have assumed that they would check the whole operational range for flat spots.

That said, lugging would be a nice explanation.

Has it had a basic tune-up -- plugs, valve adjust, etc?  What is the condition of the ignition/plug wires?  OEM exhaust?  Air filter dirty?  Is his tank vent stuff working, and does he overfill it?  As we've discovered in recent topics, a saturated carbon can might make it stumble.  What happens if he pulls the evap hoses to the TB's?

That's all I got off the top of my head.  I gotta go out and see why my Honda outboard is cutting out at low rpm.  It's acting like fuel, so I'm checking the wires.

All checked and on the diagnostics at the dealer (one of the better mechanics) , TPS reset , ran good for a while afterwards then started to lag at steady throttle again . rev it and all good ! He'll get it figured , or won't !
