Has anyone experienced this after installing a new slipon? On my 2011 Stelvio the red warning triangle and text for "Service" came on the instrument panel just a few miles after installing a new Mistral slipon I bought from my MG dealer. It also happened just after the bike turned 4900 miles. I did reinstall the O2 sensor tight and made sure that the wires were not twisted loose. Warning light did not come on after the initial start up. I rode a few miles, parked the bike, and then bike did get caught in a heavy rain when parked. Then I started the bike when the rain stopped and that's when the warning came on. After sitting overnight the system had no Warning message at start up, but after 2 miles of riding it came on again.

The bike has been in the rain before and this never happened, so I think that this is likely caused by the exhaust. The dealer did say however that no remapping should be necessary with just a slipon? Also the exhaust does have a plastic burning smell but this should go away?

Were you running the bike without the Lambda at any time? You can only do that if you have an open loop map installed that doesn't require a Lambda signal. If you have the stock map installed, the first couple of miles the bike will run open loop until the motor is warm. After that it will go into closed loop mode and start listening to what the lambda sensor had to say. If it isn't getting a signal it will throw up an error.

Do you have the dB killer in the Mistral?

If you have a plastic burning smell, I would check the wiring you had off at the O2, burnt wire will throw a code.

I think I found the problem. The black wire in the upper part of the wire harness (near tranny) of the sensor pulled out of the plug socket. During the install the wire twisted as turning to remove the sensor from the Y shaped exhaust pipe. At the time I did check from the bottom if anything was loose, but did not check above. BTW, I had to remove the Y shaped exhaust pipe that houses the sensor because the Mistral did not fit over the exhaust pipe, so I had to take both to Midas to have them widen the Mistral end (the MG dealer actually suggested this) so it can slide over the exhaust pipe.

Need to test ride to make sure but this is likely the problem.

I would loveto see and hear a sound clip of it,thinking of changing  the muffler as well just undecided on what to put on still.

That'll do it.

Also, after you've fixed that disconnect the battery or pull the 30A fuse for a few seconds to clear the trims before you start it again. It'll trim up quicker from baseline than from its previous running trims.

Problem solved, it was a loose wire, thanks!

For the sound of the Mistral slip on, I have 2 links here, one with Mistral and one stock for comparison.

Glad it's fixed.

No warning light problems when I installed my MIVV.

Most new mufflers will emit a distinct smell as the new packing inside experiences the initial burn-off.  That should go away soon.
