Another GoPro experiment: Twilight ride
« on: August 15, 2016, 03:54:44 PM »
Mounted the camera on the fairing, so:

Twilight loop north of Boulder, along the turny Olde Stage Road. Auto-exposure makes the evening look brighter than as seen through my clear helmet visor. In an attempt to record the exhaust note I drilled a small hole in the plastic case, just over the camera's mic but under the locking lever. On my small computer speakers it sounds like mostly timing chain whine. 45 minute ride edited down to 22 minutes.  Also trying to get tricky with the titles.

I just bought the "frame" case, along with the LCD-screen bacpac, and the package includes a larger waterproof case.

I've drilled the holes and have the open back. Sound is really bad. I think it's better before I did those mods. I've sealed the holes back up and see how that does.

I'm going to use an external microphone that I can get out of the wind and see what kind of results I get.

You may want to think about pointing the camera in different directions too. Even back to the rider. It helps break up the view of the road for 22 minutes.
