Double meaning in the motto
« on: August 21, 2016, 01:24:59 PM »
Some of you probably already know this, but it's worth noting...

The famous motto shown on many Moto Guzzis is "Una Storia Italiana". The usual translation is "An Italian Legend" or "An Italian Story".

However, colloquial Italian says 'una storia' has another very common meaning - when you ask an older married couple about their lives, they'll often get a misty look and recall some dalliance as 'una storia'.

So the other translation describes what so many of us feel for our Moto Guzzis: "An Italian Love Affair".

I recall one of those fondly & rather easily. Carmella! Wonderful! Still carry a torch, often on a Guzzi.
Thanx for the wake up. Sleep will be difficult.  R3~
