Anyone rocking "Gears Gen 4" heated gear?
« on: August 23, 2016, 11:59:55 AM »
My wife has Raynaud's, and anything other than warm weather is killer on her hands.

We've heard good things about Gears... umm... gear, but I'm hoping for some real world reviews from people I sort of "recognize".

Anyone?

This is discussed extensively on a couple of other forum sites, including ADVRider, the Motorcycle Tourers Forum, and the Ironbutt site. General consensus is that the very best gear is Warm'n'Safe, although several other brands get decent reviews. For the price, the heated gear at CycleGear is actually pretty good, and Moto Guzzi cheap.

Check http://www.warmnsafe.com/heated-gloves/ - and don't forget, the key to keeping warm is to keep the core warm, so a jacket combined with the gloves might be a very good idea.

I have psoriatic arthritis / ankylosing spndylitis and Raynaud's on top of it, and I can still ride down to icing temps when using proper gear.

Two friends have Gears gloves. One uses it with a Gears jacket liner. One without the jacket liner. My friend who has both says he turns his gloves off after a few minutes and is still comfortable in low 40s temps on an unfaired bike.

ITSec: She's planning on the vest as well. Thank you for the link.

And Pete: thank you. That's the second time I've heard almost the exact same comments from owners.
