Removing plastic pieces from a Nevada

If I remove all the plastic ductwork and protection from the forehead of a '04 Nevada, what would I put at risk. I am mostly thinking about any electrical pieces that have now been exposed to water. It looks like the main harness would be a little more exposed.

I guess what I am asking is, how bad an idea is this and how can I make it less bad?

My guess is that you'd be ok.  I think the Nevada has the same connector as the early V7, which are exposed to the weather.  Some grease or protector might help the connections.  I like ACF-50, but others have mentioned Boeshield T--9.

I bought mine with the fake intakes removed.  I rode it in rain on the way home in March, and just ten days ago, with no ill effects.

Do it.  It's a motorcycle, and they are meant to get wet.

And wet it'll get...Was yours stripped all the way to the frame? There are those plastic protectors that the ductwork attaches to...

I removed the plastic "air ducts" from the bottom side of the tank but I left the black plastic pieces in place.  When I saw all the electrical connections I decided they might be good splash protection for those electricals.  I also removed the chromed plastic pieces that covered the upper rear shock mounts.  My Nevada was originally a touring model and I also removed the bags and the chromed steel mounts for those bags.  I made a new seat for it and it now looks more standard.

The air ducts serve no real function and Guzzi removed them in 2012 from the models they sold in other countries.  I think totalmotorcycle.com has a good picture of that modernized Nevada.

Yeah, I've only had this for a month, but all the plastic is off-putting. However, if you look at some of the modifications that others have done, it leaves some of the electrics exposed and they are not talking about trouble they caused.
I'm a total rookie at this, but I think that the most exposed is the RPM counter, which I could do without (although I like having it) unless it talks with the other inputs to the ECU. There's too much I don't know, but would be willing to take some risks hoping for a small downside. Like getting busted for littering in Las Vegas.
