I can tell you what you ate in Germany . The thing with all the onions, if it was beef, was rostbratten.

The pastry was a quarkplunder. Quark is cream. Both are yummy!

Also, the blue sign with the red line going diagonally through it means that you are now leaving a pedestrian zone. You can drive in these areas but must go at a walking pace or you might receive a big fat fine.
