V700 CHiPs???

with recent discussions on retro accessories, Bags, Fairings, fitted to new bikes. I thought of playing with "Newer" accessories on an old bike. From feedback on my V7C with windjammer and Bates bags, the whole spectrum of ..compliments?.. "Nice" to "Monstrosity" had been expressed. Anybody want to share opinion on this combination? Anyone considered retrofitting a Kaw Police fairing to a new V7? I toyed with this combo this morning.

If you want a fairing, the best one for a V700 is the factory "polizia"/"buffalo" fairing. I have the correct "long-nose" fairing body laying up in the attic, but no mounts (not too difficult to make) or windscreen (available from MG Cycle).

If you're going to use that big, heavy chunk of plastic/fiberglass(?) then I'd definitely recommend installing Wirth progressive fork springs. That wouldn't be a bad idea anyway.

Thanks Charlie, I'm cleaning up the garage and just playing with this. Yep I agree the "buffalo" is more appropriate. Most of the weight of these fairings rests aft of the down tubes and I wouldn't think puts a lot of extra weight on the fork geometry. But just playing as I re arrange "stuff" in my garage.

I don't know about function, but as far as looks go that is AWESOME.  I think guzzis wear fairings really well....
