2 close friends of mine got caught up in that mess. They told me it's a miracle that people didn't die. Part of it was on a very busy highway, Sunday afternoon, with lots of cars full of families. Arseholes is putting it way too mildly. I got caught up in a smaller version of one of those here a couple of years ago. Luckily I was able to outrun them to the next off-ramp. On the whole, they're not real talented riders, just testosterone-filled kids with enough cash to buy sportbikes.

Unsure why it happens, but Squids love to travel in packs. See it here all the time... a dozen or so, all dressed in super expensive helmets and no other real gear, all revving to redline at every stop light... racing to the next light, and revving to redline again.

Seem to follow the same route, over and over again.

Thankfully, with temps dropping, they're vanishing from the streets until next summer.

If I'm on a bike and see something like that, it's one thing - I'd get out of the way in one direction or another just like I would if I saw a mob with clubs and knives as I was walking down a street.

However, I'd have a real hard time feeling threatened if I were in a car or truck ... ?   In that case, the squids on the bikes are the ones in danger of their lives if I think they're putting me or my family in jeopardy while I'M the one in control of a 4000 pound kinetic energy weapon, and they've got nothing.   

Never have understood those "bikesploitation" movie scenes where a couple or a woman is going down the road in a huge Chevrolet and is letting a "bike gang" threaten them and ride up next to them and knock their windows in, mile after mile.   I think I could guarantee a different scenario.   Wouldn't make as good a movie though.

Yeah, that's why people are such bad shots in movies too.  If the bad guy ran across the big open space in front of fifteen cops and the first shot stopped him the movie would be way too short.

Never fear about the "security of an armchair"; I've got between 450K and 500K miles on the highways and byways, city and country, of the US of A and the UK in the last 45 years, so I don't need much reminding of what it can be like when you contact people from ourside your world ...

Never said it would be "easy", and never said it would be "clear cut".   Sounds from the article like the truck driver was being aggressive, which I've got sense enough not to do, so I'm already ahead of him.

Just sayin' that being in the equivalent of an armored vehicle while naked criminals try to attack me is not something I lay awake worrying about ....

I don't think this behavior is anything new, Just a younger generation of riders doing their own interpretation of what they have ultimately learned from the bikers of our generation. Banging throttles at stops, riding in packs acting tough and trying to impress their counterparts. Nothing new here, we can thank those who came before for the model. The fact that they are now riding 150 h.p. bikes messes things up a little , but they are not to blame for wanting the latest technology and most of them couldn't get a harley off the side stand anyhow much less afford one. I  am equally astonished by the large packs of bicycle riders who refuse to follow the laws of the road and behave like total ass wipes when the security of being in a large pack makes them feel entitled, morons, and unfortunately around here most of them are baby boomers again setting a great example for the next generation of riders. I find it hard to blame the kids for taking what they have witnessed to a new level. I only hope they survive it all and grow up to set better examples in life to the next crop.

I seriously doubt that the folks doing this type of riding need or want to be taken seriously by anyone other than their own peer group.  It's not like they are stopping to take a poll on their behavior...

Just let them go by...ignore them and hope they don't crash into you or anyone else.  At the rate they are going, they'll be past you in a few seconds...

Funny thing is I'll be in Mississauga next week...I wonder if they'll do an encore performance while I"m there.
