Question for a LeMans I owner
« on: September 20, 2016, 05:52:24 PM »
I'm toying with putting a reproduction LeMans I fairing on my V7 Special.

Can someone provide me with the distance, center to center, for the fork tubes, measured above the triple clamp?  I figure the fairing will require some 'adjustment' (enlarging the openings for the fork tubes).  I want to make sure it isn't excessive, which would screw up the looks.

Thanks.

Looks like the v7 is about 196 mm so it should be doable.

Keep in mind those fairings were used with clipons.  Make sure the higher bars on the Special won't interfere.  If it works, I think it will look great.

Some may think they look great but they are totally useless as a fairing. The LM2/CX100 fairing is a much more functional design.

This is a form over function exercise otherwise I'd put a Dart Marlin on it and call it good.

Thought about the bars - don't want clip ons, but something like the Norman Hyde M bars may provide clearance.

Also consider the fairing of the "V7 cafe sport" from a few years ago

I've seen a couple of those in person.  They look really nice.  I'm more interested in a smaller fork-mounted vs. a frame mounted fairing.
