I hate it when this happens

Went to troubleshoot the issue where my headlights have been slowly dimming and yellowing over the last few months.  Of course after I take off the windscreen and shroud and lift the dash bezel the lights are bright white again.
Obviously I disturbed some wire or connection that was dirty or corroded.  The good news I guess is that it isn't a bad relay or switch.  the bad news is that if it ain't broke I can't troubleshoot it.
This means that unless I come up with a better idea my best recourse is to remove the fairing and clean up every connection relating to the lights and replace any jumpers there may be with larger gauge wire and see if that is a permanent fix.
I hate when problems go away because they aren't gone, they are just lurking.
With the season now I may just let it go in remission for a while and let this be a winter project.

Maybe try moving any of the wires that you may have moved when you removed the parts and the light may dim again. If that didn't track it down, then find the headlight related wires in the area you opened and pull apart the connections and clean.

If the problem persists and the bodywork is a pain to remove, good winter project!

If it was the high AND the low beam, there is a good chance it is in the ground side, since it impacted both sides.
Sounds like a good time to use a connect deoxidizer.

Yep, annoying isn't it, although not as annoying as a light failure at night.
Since you've gained access you might as well go through each connection and clean them.
While you're in there why not add an earth or 2 and run them directly back to the battery.

One of the problems with the close fit of components inside the shell is that when you button everything back up, the pressure can pry apparently-tight connections into iffy ones -- especially ground connex.

 Just one more reason to like older machines with huge headlight bucket and a lot less wiring in it.
