M/C Runs red light 3 dead
« on: October 04, 2016, 01:17:55 AM »
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/

Not a lot of detail.  Apparently the SUV had the light and was turning.  Bike with 2 aboard blew the stop.  Both on the bike and the SUV passenger dead.  Must have t-boned the SUV at the passenger door at a fair rate of speed, and the light must have been red for a while if the passenger was vulnerable.

Be careful out there!

When you consider the energy required to tip over an SUV, the bike must have been really moving.

Probably 100+ MPH.   Running with scissors is fun till someone gets an eye put out ....

As much as we justifiably complain about people with four wheels (or more) doing dumb stuff, sometimes our fellow riders demonstrate their own distinct brand of foolishness.

Clicked on it and scrolled a bunch.  Saw nothing about a motorcycle.

Try CTL-F to bring up the search box, and type "motorcycle" in it.  That's how I found it.

Running with scissors indeed - back in the early eighties local paper here had a pic of a Plymouth Duster on it's roof, with a motorcycle stuck in the passenger door. Rider and car passenger dead, estimated 100 mph motorcycle in a residential neighborhood.

I've got a couple of coworkers who go up the white line at eighty, next time the topic comes up I'll use your running with scissors line, thank you.

I think about them a lot more, now that I have a wife and kids.  And interestingly, I enjoy riding more than ever at the same time.

The car was torpedoed by an idiot who killed himself and two other people.

That about sums it up.  Bike as manned guided missile or torpedo, but with a passenger.  RIP to all of them.
