Congratulations on the new bike. Your going to love that motor the more you ride it. Lot's of info on this and other forums like Guzzi tech and this one just for the 1400's.  Enjoy! :gotpics:

Yep, had mine since mid August. Approaching 3,000 of the most fun miles I've ever ridden. I feel like I've come to know the bike very well.  Best thing I've done to it thus far is the XL windshield and created some side wings.  Made 150% improvement.

Hello Luap,

glad to hear that there are others on the road.
I got mine early september. Have only about 500 on it because i was traveling
for business. After getting use to the big front wheel i am enjoying every single mile.
Also got a XL Windshield (what a difference!!), the guzzi comfort seat (much better than the stock) and
the solo seat cover. Really waiting on the "Sound" Exhaust from Guzzi or a Aftermarket One.
Do you have any infos about aftermarket pipes or is it still to early. Can not find anything.
Waiting that the temperatures drops here in Florida to enjoy this piece of art even more.

I'd think any of the aftermarket mufflers that work with the 1400 series should do fine.  I'm leaving mine alone. I like them kinda quiet anyways.  Other than those, I haven't heard of anything yet.

Any Dealer i asked about the exhaust says that the MGX one is unique. No Aftermarket Pipes for the next 10-12 Weeks

Being a California 1400 variant, I might recommend a set of Agostini exhaust. Possibly the nicest sounding exhaust you could possibly put on a 1400. Mine are polished. (1400 Eldorado) They also make a set in black, keeping with the MGX-21 look.

You will also shed a considerable amount of weight. The difference between the stockers and the Agos for my bike is 28 pounds.

Sounds amazing

I wish somebody could confirm that the california 1400 pipes work on the MGX.
Is there anybody here who had the chance to fit one?

So you're saying the stock exhaust weighs 25 x 28 = 700 lbs?
That's exhausting.

I realize it is not that big a deal Kev. I was simply stating that each stock muffler weighs 14 pounds more than each Ago that went on, and I agree, it isn't much in the grand scheme of things. Just saying.

I disagree.  28 lbs is a very big deal if you desire weight reduction in any vehicle.

Remember Flash Gordon, MD, in Motorcycle Consumer News?  In a weight loss article he wrote sometime in the past 10 years (the range I've subscribed), he once stated that if you are trying to lighten a motorcycle to gain more use of available engine power, consider dropping some weight from the rider piloting the bike.  He then drew a conclusion, if I recall correctly, that for each 7 pounds of weight shed from the motorcycle it is like gaining 1 horsepower.  Now, granted, things like aerodynamics and other acting forces don't seem to be in the equation, and he gave no explanation to the claim, but at face value changing those mufflers gives 4 horsepower back to the rider.  4.  Manufacturers throw parties when a new model has 4 more horsepower than last year's model.

If I could only drop 28 pounds off my frame...

Take it for what it's worth.

In any event, it is a side note to Axel45's original question. Although I don't know for certain, the likelihood of aftermarket muffler options do exist.

Agostini
Zard
Mistral
Also, though not shown specifically for the MGX, LaFranks are also shown on the Guzzi site for Cali models.

Ok, so mostly I was teasing John for either his math skills (4%) or vocabulary skills (calling 4% considerable).

28# sounds like something until you contrast it with the already ~700# of bike and how many hundreds of pounds of rider and gear. Then it sounds, to me, like bupkiss.

This summer all my bikes lost ~20# (so far).

That's about 3% (Harley), 4% (Guzzi), 5% (Duc) and I didn't feel a thing.

Well I feel healthier.... And to be fair since the weight came off me I should base my math off the real totals (bike+ me) so that makes it even less significant, around 2.4%, 2.5%, 3.1% respectively.

I'm not going to guess at John's weight, but at mine with his bike it's only around 2.1% (my weight loss), 3% (his exhaust), so just over 5% if I were to ride his bike (48# less what would have been a 940# total).

Anyway, so my point was:

1. Teasing
2. IMHO a mostly insignificant change in mass considering the big picture.

Not matching the Cali 1400.

Hi Axel45... I' m also looking & waiting for the right aftermarket sound. Acquired my MGX Oct 20h. Best sound I ever heard a bike make was my Mille with LaFranconi Competiions & a CBX with D&D's. Can't really tell the sound we want (regardless of individual taste) from an I-pad or computer set of speakers. Because of the MGX's style it shouldn't be too long before there'll be more than one to choose from....I hope, although I've gotten a couple positive comments on the OEM's.

V-Performance, who I'm not familiar with, makes a set for the Audace. I don't know if they'll fit an MGX.

Seems like they should fit.  The difference between the Audace and MGX21 is the front end.  IIRC.  I'll ask the friend in PHX.  He stuck some obnoxious pipes on his Cal 1400 Touring.  They're almost open pipes.

Proud new owner of a very lightly used MGX-21 with 1500 miles.  All seems perfect with the bike, but can't seem to be able to turn the preload adjuster knob located just under the seat on the right side of the bike.  Is there a trick to get the knob to turn?  If not, mine may be jammed.
