Valve stem
« on: October 07, 2016, 08:59:30 AM »
I am having trouble getting air into both tires. The air goes in, but very slowly. I had a rear flat Tuesday on a ride into KY, tried fix-a-flat, screwed on the nozzle, couldn't get any flow into the tire. Is there something odd/different about these valve stems?

They are not all made the same, some have a long spring and a different bonnet than others. The problem seems that on some the air nozzle on the hose will seal against the outer of the stem before the pin is pressed down very far or the spring rate is less.  Go to an auto store and buy some different ones. Take the one out of the stem and take it w/you to compare.

No.

If it is a used bike, you didn't say, someone may have messed with it.

Good judgement comes from experience.
And experience. That comes from poor judgement.

No.

If it is a used bike, you didn't say, someone may have massed with it.

That would make the bike heavier, but shouldn't affect the air flow ... ?

I think this is most likely the problem. I'll try to get longer valve cores. Thanks.
