I installed this windscreen over the weekend on my '16 Stone.  Beautiful fit and finish.  It does a good job of keeping the wind off my chest.  There is a range of adjustment of the windscreen's rake angle.  I tried several and it didn't seem to make much difference in the position and intensity of the wind on my head at speed (~60 mph), at eye level.  Have any of you broken the secret code for adjusting this windscreen?  The installation instructions offer no advice.  Thanks in advance.  BTW, I'm about 5'-10", have average proportions, and use a normal-height OEM gel seat.

P.S.  I've learned that there was an earlier windscreen bearing the same number (8877724), with one-piece round profile bare metal or chrome plated brackets, for the Breva and Nevada models.  This post is about the newer windscreen with flat two-piece black brackets.  But, any advice about the rake angle that applies to the earlier windscreen would probably also apply to the later one.

From my experience as a 50 year ridder of numerous bikes with shields this is a summary of my experience. There is two ways to get a turbulence free ride on a motorcycle. Either look through the screen, which I prefer, or look a 2-3 inches over with a shield that flips the wind upward due THE the last couple inches turns upward. Now, that being said , you will have wind to come under the shield allowing the wind to hit ones face from underneath. The way to stop this is fork shields. A full fairing is the most efficient wind protection out there, I know, as I have had numerous bikes with both shield and fairing hope this helps. It it makes you feel any better I'm going through the same thing and trying to get lowers for my 07 Calvin. Looks like I'm going to have to fabricate or alter fork shields to fix the issue.

I don't think there is a universal solution to windshield rake angle.  It boils down to trial and error since what I find to be OK will probably not suit anyone else (I'm 5' 11").  On my '13 Special I ended up getting a 2" taller windscreen with a flip on the top.  Now I do not get much buffeting.  I'm not in dead still air, can still look over the windscreen and have reasonable protection from some rain and bugs.  Gustaffson (https://bikescreen.com/ )made my replacement windscscreen.

looks good,

I dont know the exact reason why but the fact there is a reasonable sized gap between the head lamp and the botton of the screen helps create a smoother airflow with less buffetting

That gap allows for pressure equalization , the real secret to a buffet free zone .

I use that shield on my 2014 V7S for touring (and a small Dart for otherwise). I normally set it such that the mounting bolts are at the bottoms of both sets of slots in the brackets, but I no longer remember exactly why. I'm sure I did some minimal testing when I first got it and came up with this setting from trial and error. I'm your height and use a stock seat (slightly modified but not for height). I do slouch a bit, which puts my head a bit lower. I try for minimal buffeting and don't care so much about clean wind hitting my helmet. I just wanted to reduce the wind blast on my chest on long cold days.

This thread comes at a good time. I am just looking for a windshield for my '13 Stone for light touring/cold. I like my bikes naked but I don't like being cold so I'm looking for something that can be installed/removed repeatedly.

pikipiki - I like the model you linked to but noted the manufacturer said that they only make the windscreens and drilling is required. Did yours come with mounting hardware? Any issues with fit?

OldDogface, I ordered the Guzzi windscreen (which came with the brackets).  Although better than nothing the Guzzi screen was too short for my taste so I visited Gustaffson in St. Augustine, FL to have a taller screen made.  They used my Guzzi screen to make a form with the correct shape to fit the Guzzi brackets and drilled the holes as needed.  I watched the entire process.  Drilling the holes is no big deal.  You should use a special drill bit, which they can provide, to avoid cracking the plastic.  Then you use a Dremel type bit to enlarge the hole so the required rubber grommet will fit.  Pre drilled holes will not work reliably as motorcycle brackets seem to vary just a bit from bike to bike.  Bottom line, you need to supply the brackets and then mount the screen.  I do not think Guzzi sells the brackets as a stand alone part.

You might want to consider this: Wunderlich VarioERGO screen deflector

I have it installed on my R1200R and it works great.
