Ultra Black High Temp on Oil Seal?

I hear that silicone seal can screw up an engine if it makes its way to the oil sump. I've also seen procedures detailing installation using the sealer on the outside diameter of the front timing cover oil seal. I am still in the process of installing a repair sleeve to remedy a leak, but awaiting some parts from dealer.
The seal does not leak from the outside edge. I just wanted to get a warm fuzzy, because I'm leaning to not useing the ultra black high temp. Anyone have experience regarding this?

I don't use (Permatex) Ultra Black RTV in that location, no sealer is really necessary. If the bore the seal is going into is looking a bit rough (someone has scratched it or poor machining, for instance), I'll coat the outside of the seal with a light smear of Permatex 300.

If there is an imperfection then use Permatex 300. Otherwise use nothing.
Cool and thank you.
