"Sportified T" for 1000 LeMans...Trade??
« on: November 04, 2016, 06:08:11 PM »
I'm putting out feelers to see if anyone with a NICE 1000 Le Mans would be interested in negotiating a trade for the pictured 850 T Sport.
I bought this bike in standard T configuration to use as a base for a winter project. I do this every other year to help stave off the Maine winter doldrums. I bought the bike from the original owner who had made many upgrades to the bike over the years of his ownership. Some you can see others you can't like timing gears, cam, lightened flywheel, windage tray and Bub sump, dyna ignition, rear disc conversion, added front dual disc, and much more that I'd be happy to share with anyone.
When I got the bike I set out to source parts and dig through my own inventory to respectfully transform the T to a sportier incarnation.
I had an old Sport seat pan that I sent off to Sargent's, got a tank, SP handlebars, new switch gear, and various other bits and pieces from MG, a rear fender off ebay, etc. etc. It turned out really nice and was a nice ride.
A few months later I was made an offer for it and it went off to CT. The new owner added the EBC front rotors, new F09  calipers and master cylinder and put about 500 miles on it before having hip replacements and deciding to sell his collection. So, I bought it back with the idea of making a few tweaks and keeping it, which I may, but I've been lusting for a 1000 Lemans. If anyone here would be interested in discussing a trade I'm all ears.

Thanks,
Steve

P.S. I'll consider including all the stock "take-offs" if the deal merits. ( tank, seat and hardware, handle bars, etc.). I also all the records and receipts from day one including old hand written notes between the original owner and Joe Eish, Mike and Curtis Harper, and Charlie Rice to name a few.

I'd also consider a clean sale with a reasonable offer. Anyone?

Only trade-able bike I have at present is an '01 Jackal.

I found a BUB sump I bought who knows how long ago in the deepest bowels of my garage. After doing some poking around I this post and showing it on the 850T. I didn't even know it would work on an 850T! How is that possible?

It would have to be a later T that came from Mandello with the cartridge filter or was converted to accept a filter.
