A king Parrot.
When we lived up in the hills ( Dandenong ranges ) in Melbourne, we used to feed them from our hands.
Ha it got to the point where they'd sit on my shoulders or knees and eat from us!
Miss the buggers as the ones we have here aren't as friendly

Medium/large Parrot - as Guzzler said a King Parrot at my Daughter's around the feet of the Dandenongs. I'm a bit jealous, being among the Eucalypts she get's 'em all - Sulphur crested and Black Cockatoos, Galahs, Kingies and more. We encourages the Native Birds around our place too but we're in the TeaTree belt on the Coast and I miss the colour. 

There are compensations :







These are Wild Black Ducks that wandered up the Drive for a look around and stayed for about 5 days or so before moving on to find a better breeding spot. We only get occassional visits from the Rosellas
living further back where the Euc's start and some Black Cockys fly over on the way to somewhere else.

We have to enlist the help of the Magpies to battle the ferals around here or we'd be inundated with Indian Mynas, Starlings and Sparrows.

Thanks for this, mates.  I'll check in with my cousin Paul in Traralgon near Melbourne who's always clamoring for us to visit and see what his bird situation's like.  We've got about 20 wild turkeys who own our neighborhood.  See if they get less bold as Thanksgiving approaches..

Bit of colour on a dull day!
Do you reckon the Turkeys will notice the " lean and hungry
eye" ? 

The Maggies are local bosses, watched over by the Marsh
Harriers who answer to the Wedgetails who lord it over all
and occasionally send in the shock troops - Peregrines.
We enlist the Maggies to keep the ferals at bay and it
leaves the place open to all the rest right down to the little
Wrens and such.
