I also have a set of Sachs forks I'm re-valving to try for shit and giggles. A bit of a wank really as the Matris are really, REALLY, good.

Those 3 items would have been my goals, too.  You mentioned Matris and Sachs forks in a previous post.  I thought the front forks on my 8vSE were made by Showa.  Maybe not.  Only reason I'm asking these questions is ...... an 8vSE was (is) a fascinating bike.  Aside from not purchasing my 2012 until the supposedly improved flatties with DLC came out (I didn't wait long enough!), the stock suspension was the primary reason the Griso went on the block.  I'd possibly consider another one, or a good used 2v Griso, if there was a documented fix for the harsh suspension that came on the bikes that wouldn't bankrupt me.  Such as re-valving and re-springing the OEM forks so they would meet your goals, especially for compliance and comfort.

The Showas are a very good fork. The problem is that as delivered they are grossly under sprung and over damped, as is the Sachs rear shock which also has the disadvantage of having very blunt and therefore insensitive needle valves for the damping adjustment.

You can improve the stock forks a lot by simply re-valving them and using lighter oil. Getting more suitable springs if you are heavier than 70kg  will help too but I got away with just winding the preload right down. They were pretty good .....but.......

Swapping to a decent rear shock is a game changer. I have a Matris and its only problem is the spring is slightly too stiff. From new it has been valved right and I've got it dialled in how I want it. The Matris inserts are superb and I'm still playing with fine tuning there, once again the springs are just a bit too stiff.

While getting suspension sorted can be spendy it is far, far cheaper and achieves far more than motor mods which are what most people usually jump for first up. No point in having more power if you can't get it too the road...

Yes Pete along with FGRT-803 R&T forks. The R&T forks have the billet machined caliper/axel mounts. Upgraded from the std Ohlins along with Dan Kyle 30mm ( from 36 mm) offset clamps and a flat rate rear link. The 1198 has an issue with finishing off a corner and tends to run wide. The tripple clamps fix this and the flat rate link and TTX rear shock allow the rear to work as well on the track and without a pillion on the road. With the std link the suspension basically goes rock hard when it reaches the rise part of the travel.
The monoblocks are a one finger affair for any type of braking.  I had those Ohlins you showed in your post on my RSVR Aprillia. Be nice to see how they go on the Grisso.
