I like my V7 and hate to make it sit out in the rain while I enjoy the stunning views within my cubicle for several hours each day.

A local seller has a Honda Pacific Coast 800 for sale. I have owned a couple of Hondas over the years and found them to be mostly reliable. I have no experience with the PC800. Does anyone on here have experience with this one? Looks like it has tons of room in the "trunk" for a daily commuter. I typically carry a laptop and lunch in to work in the morning. Going home I carry my laptop, lunch bag often stuff a set of overpants in the luggage. Thinking (...hoping...) this bike might allow me to store that stuff AND have room to stop at the grocery for a gallon of milk, a dozen eggs, and a loaf of bread on the way home.

Not looking for a full dresser or other possible options, just interested in your thoughts on this one model. I can afford this one and, given it's "paint faded condition" wouldn't mind leaving it out in the rain.

I was looking for a PC and ended up with my EV and this board.

The EV was cheaper (Guzzi content).

Very usable bike in inclement weather. Great for commuting. Like a scooter on steroids.

Neat bike. Don't have to adjust valves, just change the oil and put gas in it. I really thought I wanted one several years ago until I sat on one. It felt like it was about a 7/8 scale bike. If it fits you, it should make a great commuter or light tourer.

An acquired taste, I have 2, my tow Truck(96 PC) and a 89 PC I am striping for use as an adventure bike. Handles great, super reliable, I have two minor complaints. 1, it is very top heavy and will lay over with you if you are slow and tap the front breaks with full turn, Dont do that as the doctor says. 2. tiny bit weak on the brakes when I tow my trailer. Excellent ride for the money, and they are going up in price every year, good low mileage one goes for 4K plus.

I found the one I rode to be rather anemic in the acceleration department. But I am used to 100hp/74 ft.lb. torque. I have skidded the rear tire many times. It wasn't as good on gas as I thought it would be. The tank may be 5 gal., maybe?

I've seen Docin tow a few bikes with his PC800 so it must be a pretty tough hombre!

And when he says tow it's not across town, many states away!

Part of the plan with the PC800 is that you don't have to deal with anything under the bodywork!

I owned and rode a PC800 in 2013 when I was working that year in Colorado.

I was in an apartment, had no place to work on a bike, no place to park it but on the street, and I wanted to not only use it as a city bike in Denver but ride all over Colorado while I was there.

The PC800 was perfect for all of that. Nothing to do to it but check the oil and tires and put gas in it. Due to those wonderful Honda CV carbs, it ran just as well at the top of Mt. Evans at 14,200 feet as it did at 4000 feet. Hauled Fay and I all over the mountains with no trouble � and as you can see, that big rear trunk will swallow just about anything you need to carry �.

I�d have another. I paid $3200 for it with 16,000 miles on it, sold it on consignment when I left Denver for $2500 with 21,000 miles on it �.

My BIL owned a white one for several years and put mega miles on it. IIRC they had an issue with the oil feed to the heads(?).

There is an owners club. I attended their national rally in Bristol NC a few times with said brother in law a few years ago.

Ya gotta love Grilled Catfish and Hush Puppies!

It was kinda strange - my EV (Hydro) made more noise at idle than a whole parking lot full of PCs revving to redline.

Check with the PC Owners Club - perhaps the seller is a member?

My experience was similar to others. Oil and a few tires. Never a problem. Remarkably unremarkable.
Fond memories whenever I occasionally see one on the road.

Opposite experience with me. I was one of 4 Guzzis headed to New Cumberland one year and we were behind and trying to pass a pair of PCs south of Morgantown WV on route 250 I believe. Either these 2 were exceptional riders or we were lousy riders as it they kept up the pace quite well. We didn't pass in no passing zones and there were very few passing zones. It took awhile to get around them and we did not leave them in the dust. They slowly faded from my rear view mirror. I was impressed with how well they "appeared" to handle in the twisties.

Yea, the plastic, lovingly called the Tupperware Bike, can be a pain. Learn the proper order of removal and make sure it is warm, cold plastic cracks. Most of the panels are available new!

It is over 600lbs! with only 56hp and 50 something lb ft from 2500 rpm to 6.5K. It aint no race bike but will get going quick if you know how to massage the throttle. I get many comments from riders when I am with at group about the acceleration and handling amongst the group.

4.2 gal, 47-50 mpg every time every day. In the mountains I usually be better than 55mpg cause it is in 3rd-4th gear most of the time and under 50mph. Towing I get reliable 35 mpg with what you see in the previous post photo. As good as my brother gets on his Goldwing.

If you mean to imply that there's a lot of plastic on the bike that would come to pieces in an endo into a rock wall, why certainly that's true.

If the implication is that the PC800 isn't a competent bike in the twisties, I think it has much more to do with the rider than the bike. If you'd been on PC and the following rider on an EV, the same thing would likely have happened, only with less plastic ....

Personally, it's my next bike purchase. To me, they just exude that 90's era of forward looking design and in my mind, look like a mini-Goldwing. Not that it matters, but I'm only 40 and I think they're awesome bikes. Not all of us youngins prefer the speed demons.

Power as all of you know, isn't everything. My 05 Fz6 I previously owned was insanely fast, but only if you revved it up to about 10K and who does that in town anyway?

I was looking for a PC when I found a California EV. Cost was a factor (Guzzi Content).

Then I bought I rode it. Nice. (Rider Content)

And the Cali is so cool (Hollywood Content).

Then I met other Guzzi riders (Left Brain & Red Suspenders Content).

I've always liked the Honda Pacific Coast. I think because it is uncompromising in it's purpose and design.

I can remember when they came out. I had been lusting over a V45 Saber. The PC and ST were sitting on the showroom floor.

I was in love with the PC but the ST engine was what I thought to be perfect. V4 the 'right' way in the chassis, good fairing, etc, etc.

But, I could not afford either at the time. Oh well.

My buddy owns a 1989 model, and it works flawlessly, as it was designed to do. One of the weak points to look for at this late date, however, is the condition of the exhaust system. Depending on how well the bike was stored over the years and how humid the environment, the lower sections of the exhaust system could show signs of rotting.

I had an interest in the PC800 for a while, and I got this idea for a custom trunk based on Corbin's Smuggler Trunk for the K1200LT, which I drew on the computer.
