I had a boy on a minibike once tell me that he had another one at home that had the gears on it from a 10-speed bicycle and it would outrun my motorcycle!   Yep, sure would!   

I mean, why would anyone lie about something like how fast their bike will go?

A friend of mine had one just like that one when I live in Italy in the 80's. It had some real balls for a 50cc.

100mph for a 200cc 4-stroke... don't think so. I'd say 70 tops on a good day.. not that that's slow or anything.

That engine, stock, costs $179, is rated at 6.5 HP, and has a 3600 RPM maximum speed.

Say it was modified with all these "billet" racing parts, and the horsepower and RPM were doubled.   You'd have to feed enough gas to that little cylinder to make it turn 7200 RPM and maybe make 13 or 14 horsepower, assuming the crank didn't jump right out of its bushings at that speed.   Run it on methanol and maybe get 17 or 18 horsepower.

Anyone ever heard of a bare bike that would turn in 100 MPH on <18 horsepower?    We most of us rode early 70s bikes with 18" wheels, with a claimed 25 HP, that no way would they run 100 MPH.   Add in 8" wheels and ....

Oh well.   No law against exaggerrating how fast your bike will go, or we'd all be in jail.

Remember that it has no transmission.  So, even if he got 10,000rpm out of it, he'd need a heck of a push start with that high a gearing.

We'd never believe you (using that same principle) about those hippie women and Japanese models if you hadn't had photographic evidence    .....  !

 The tires and bearings would not hold up to much more than 50 MPH . Maybe he means 100 meters per hour  Haven't we looked at this before ?

Nope. Another looked identical, but had racks front and rear, stock front end for $350 a couple days ago. But that's my point...there seems to be a little resurgence of the backyard mini bike

It's like with all the cheap scooters going around, all the adults have remembered their childhood on mini bikes

I remember comparing models back then..and I admit, I'd love one to do circles on my lawn and drive the neighborhood crazy
