The Kid's never been to a distillery, and I've never been to Makers mark, so we'll tag along but do the tour. Meet you guys later at the Hampton.

Took my Butler map up to the Kid's place in Wisconsin to look at places to go, but his dawg ate it.

Blew my coffee in to the keyboard!

Something similar happened to me when I was a teacher. I had the big annual inspection from The Man From Government and the evening before I had head all my stuff out in the alcove all ready for the following day. Overnight a pipe ruptured and the whole ground floor was awash in the morning. I gathered up the sodden mess and tried to dry it out a bit but failed. I took it in anyway; I explained it really was all there but we had a slight mishap at home. I don't know whether he wanted to laugh or cry. He managed to pry a couple of pages apart, saw it did have stuff on it, managed to translate some of my waterwashed notes and saw enough to ok me for another year. Fortunately most of my notes were on the computer and could me reprinted. but some were not.

Lucky, Muzz!  I would have likely gotten a less sympathetic and humorless "TMFG."

As you watch the mutton countdown from afar, check out this: http://bbqfest.com

Maybe we should have two trips to Kentucky?  :food: :boozing:

^^^^^ We flew down to that one several years ago. It looked as if the town was on fire when flying over. That's where I learned that dip is two syllables. "Dee yup."

After four months of working in my "spare time", late nights and weekends, the bike I plan to ride down to Kentucky is nearly finished! Put the first 39 miles on it yesterday.  :bike-037:

Wow!   Looks even better out on the road than it did on the bench.   You'll get quite a "ride impression" from the Mutton Run ....

Yes, Lannis, and, especially on the return when the suspension will get more of a GVWR workout.   :food: :boozing:

BTW, Charlie, as the audience here is limited to muttoneers, you should post that pic and story as a new thread so you get a wider audience.

Beautiful machine; looking forward to seeing it.

Getting' close Bill  :thumb:

Yup, indeed.

Had a major (6-couple brunch) social event here at house yesterday, with that meaning a few weeks of "enhanced spring cleaning" under "close supervision"  :thewife: , so no time until now to get back into Moto Grappa.  Headed down there shortly to make sure Norge is ready.

It is, of course ... but double checking never hurts.

There's a complete "build thread" here: http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=88354.0 . But, I think the audience on the "Bike Builds and Rebuilds" sub-forum is pretty limited too.

Well Bill, I may have been called a mutineer, a mountaineer, but a muttoneer :undecided:

Having just come back from a week away up in my beloved Golden Bay on the bike :thumb: that on my first trip in for supplies when I arrived up there I picked up a bulk pack of mutton chops, which was my protein supply for the week. Slow pan fried seeing our hacienda is somewhat :"basic" and lacking some of the finer accoutrements that may be found in more palatial abodes. They were still  :thumb:

It is funny Nick but as johnr said in a previous post, mutton is not easy to come by, it is all lamb. The main town in what is very much an isolated farming community does have on it's shelves the odd bit of mutton. As I was scrutinizing the shelves with an intense scrute I noticed MUTTON chops. So,  :food: :food:

I thought of you guys getting close to the big event and thought the least I could do is support you in you endeavours.

Yes, be grateful.

This is the final monthly bump for the Mutton Mutiny and its Muttoneers!

No promises, however, that there won't be additional coordination posts here or separately.  If those are driving you nuts, just ignore 'em.

Anyway, I googled "mutton" and "mutiny," and this was the best I could do:

Three weeks out from launch and he weather is looking pretty good just now.  But, yes, I know what a pseudoscience meteorology is!

http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/owensboro-ky/42303/may-weather/735

So, if you are still on the fence about joining us, review this thread, and, when your spousal unit asks what you are thinking about, just say, truthfully, "Mutton, Honey."

The location of the St. Mary of the Woods barbeque picnic is: 10534 Main Cross St, Whitesville, KY 42378.

One of my posts may have you confused - I'm going to visit my sister in Liberty, KY during that same weekend.

I've decided that I won't be joining you guys at the picnic after all. I've never been to my sister's place in Liberty, so instead I plan to hang out there and explore the surrounding area. My brother-in-law is building a Zenith STOL CH 701 and is always doing other interesting projects, so I feel the need to visit with him and catch up.

See youse guys some other time, some other place.

BLUF: Cease Fire!

I surrender.

The weather does not worry me.  As I think Ken Hand said, “If everybody watched weather channel, no one would ride!”

A sodden run, punctuated by delays of T-storms, would, however, take the fun out of it for Kathi, with whom I was looking forward to making the trip two-up.

But, the real warstopper is not rain, but illness.

I have been sick (and literally in bed) since last Sunday.  Some sort of one-two punch from a 24-hour bug -- complete with [TMI follows] projectile vomiting that missed the porcelain target by yards  -- with a sinus infection accomplice.  I have been out once, to the doc, and that didn’t help.  Just one of those wait-it-out things.  I am still waiting.  If anything, worse today than before.

I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in this result.  Have been planning this for months and looking forward to the reunion with Guzzisti and others as the centerpiece of this season’s riding.  But, I suppose that even I must now and then exercise good judgment and do the right thing.

I may go back in and whine to the docs again today, as their last counsel hasn’t changed anything.

Anyway, regrets to all.  Hope some go despite rain.  You'll have a fine time.

Bill

P.S. I cancelled first-night's motel in Ashland, but may leave in a small escape valve in case I am miraculously cured.  Kathi and I might drive down on Saturday in the Mini, but even that is likely false hope.

Yikes! Sorry about that, Bill.
Are the east coasters still coming? Nick?
Moto, you still coming from Wisconsin?
If nobody is coming, the Kid and I will head direct to Wheels through time. and I'll need to cancel a couple of hotels.

It's not like Bill doesn't ride in the rain - our trip with Travman down to the WV Mountain Guzzi Rally comes to mind. Real "gully washer" on some parts of the ride, with flooded fields threatening to cover the road. Been There Done That.
