Mapping advice please
« on: February 11, 2017, 12:09:19 PM »
Hi guys, looking for a little advice from some of you experienced guys.
I have a 07 Calvin that I got back in October from an ex member, as I bought his guzzi:) the bike was like new with only 5k miles and flawless and I'm so fortunate to have acquired her. I have put around a thousand miles in most all ridding situations except racing mode as I'm an old guy and past that phase in life. The bike runs great, has an occasional hick up, delivers around 40+ mpg local ridding and 50+ mpg on the interstate. I can't comment much on the power issue as I have nothing to compare it to as it has the stock mapping from the factory and dealership.
My question is this. What is the pros or cons, advantage or disadvantages of changing the mapping( I guess I'm using the correct terminology for fuel, air, timeing computer issue) or leaving it be.
Let me add I have the capability, my wife, to connect the bikes on board computer to a lap top to make changes and realize I would have to get the proper connector to hook them up to preform the download.
All advise, technology info, opinions and past experiences, will be greatly appreciated as I have learned the guys here are great to help us less fortunate in knowledge and experience with the Guzzie bikes. Also remember the most desired info will be from the guys with the same motor as mine, the non hydro bike of that design as the Calvin. Thanks in advance guys!

My advice? If you're happy with the way the bike runs, don't change anything.  :thumb:

Thanks beetle, probably good advise as I would hate to attempt to get a little more of one thing and mess up something else..
