Tink and Flops taking a simultaneous yawn. Got Flops (the blond) about 7 years ago when she wondered off the tough streets and into the library I was then managing. She had no tags, was literally covered in dirt and fleas. She growled at me at first so I just sat down on the steps and waited. She then eventually jumped up right beside me on the steps and I knew that very second she owned me. Dunno how long she had been on the street but after getting her cleaned up and fleas removed - took two baths - she literally almost rested for 3 straight days.Tink came from a Shitzu rescue organization here in Louisville. Oddly enough, he had been picked up off the streets by Animal Services in the same area of Louisville where Flops had drifted into the library.
I had dogs my entire childhood until early adulthood. It's weird I thought I was a 'dog person' until my last dog died and I didn't get another for a few years... After time without a dog, I can't imagine ever owning one again. Needy, annoying, smelly, loud nuisance animals IMO
Substitute "man" for "dog" in that sentiment, and it'll probably be what Fay will be saying after I'm gone .....
We don't need no stinkin' dogs around here.
and what? none of you guys admitting to your pet Gecko, turtle or snake? or goldfish (koy?)
SaskMick, no votes in the bird category.. don't you have one?and what? none of you guys admitting to your pet Gecko, turtle or snake? or goldfish (koy?) I'd have a pet Crow but it's not legal to own one.. If I lived in the country I'd probably have one anyway and train him to fly the coup when the bird police arrive..
OR Mice, that guy looks like he can do the job..
US Federal law proclaims it is illegal to keep a crow (or raven) in captivity without a special permit.
We have four hens and two cats....The cats are outside most of the time, we are in the woods on 10 acres.... But during the winter they do sleep all day by the wood stove...One cat is 21 year old female that was a stray... The 11 year old male in the photo was a feral kitten we took in..He's no lap cat and in the past I thought cats were a bit dumb...This one is scary smart and master of his domain...
Two Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Bear (1) and Oni (5). Yes, there was a treat involved in this pic.
We had to put our yellow lab, Roxy, down about 3 years ago. Haven't gotten another dog since as we like to travel from time to time. It's rather a PIA to get someone to watch your pet while you are away. My favorite dog ever was my friend's English Bulldog, Otis. I've never laughed so much at a dog's antics. He's gone now, too, but made it 13 years. That's quite a run for an English Bulldog.
None at the present time. But yes, I have had both.Love em all.Besides the companionship, basically ......
