Finally granted residency in Barrea and with that comes the ability to buy our own car. We had been leasing Renault's since we arrived but now it's time to go Italian..picked this up Wed. in Roma

It's a 2.0 140hp JTDM 2  turbo. 6 speed manual trans equipped with the Alfa DNA system. Ran it yesterday in performance mode  Didn't expect what I got for 140hp

Maybe we'll get the Giulietta here in the near future. I don't think we'll get the Mito.

I about pissed myself with the amount of commercial presence Alfa had during the superbowl.

DY, glad to see you enjoying yourself over there!

I have loved Alfas ever since I had my 1750 Spider back in 75.  It was another of those vehicles with 'soul' or 'character'.  Dripped water on my shoulder.  Floor pans rust out easily.  Fouled plugs easily (mechanical FI).  But it handled really well (mine had Koni shocks) and sounded great.  Would embarass many of the 911's of that time.

I like the new ones too and would be tempted to get one.

We considered a Mito but our plan is to now finally get to tour the country and the Mito we thought to be a little small to be comfortable on long drives. Jan doesn't like trains or buses so we figured we should get something a bit larger but not too large to be a problem in small villages like Barrea. We also looked at the 157 but thought it was a little long for Barrea. The guy that I rent garage space for the bikes from has a 157 that's been badly abused yet still runs like a top with the exception of my test ride in it when the shift lever left the floor  :boozing:
