I trained myself to hit the cancel every time I scan the gauges or mirrors or exit a turn. works for me 95% of the time
Another idea for a habit to teach yourself:Leave your thumb on the turn signal switch until you turn it off.I do this with the high/low beam switch when traveling on low traffic roads at night. When I go to low beam for oncoming traffic I leave my thumb on the switch so I can turn it back to high ASAP.My BMW F800GS had self cancelling signals. I was told that they would flash for 20 seconds or 200 meters, whichever came last. Because I'm that kind of a rider, I usually turn my blinder on early. As a result, often the blinker would turn off before I got to the intersection. One of the reasons I'm glad that bike is gone.
