Color Code for red V7 Stone...*sad puppy face*
« on: April 27, 2017, 09:32:14 PM »
Okay, as I was getting ready my bike for tomorrow, I accidentally tripped and fell on the bike.

Little did I realize, my jackets zipper had scratched my tank.

NOT huge but deep enough to cut through the clear coat...

So anyway, it is a red 2015 V7 Stone...anyone knows what code or where I can ordered something to patch up the scratch line?

The best way to get a paint code that's not already known is to use the online parts listings at Harper Moto or AF1 Racing. For example, go to the parts catalog for your year and model, look up a painted part (such as the gas tank), and you'll see a list of alternative part numbers for the tank - one for each color.

In this case, we see:

2H000415000XN6   Fuel tank, black   1   Vehicle colour:   Diablo Black[ND]
2H000415000XV6   Fuel tank, green   1   Vehicle colour:   Verde Raptor opaco[VR]
2H000415000YR4   Fuel tank, red           1      Vehicle colour:   Rosso Ventone[RV]

By eliminating the common section of the part number, we are left with the paint code, at least as some paint manufacturers see it. In this case, Rosso Ventone is paint code YR4, Verde Raptor is XV6, and Diablo Black is XN6.

AF1 Racing offers TouchUpDirect's paint in this code, and other Guzzi-friendly sources may have it as well. You can also search for touch up paint using this code from other sources such as ColorRite, but they may not have a listing.

Note that some aftermarket paint makers will not use these codes, but will use other codes with the same descriptive names.

You say it cut through the clear coat. Shouldn't you use clear coat to repair?  Did the scratch go through the red into the primer?

Omg! I will look into it!

As for cut thru clear coat, I think it also touched the red....

I would just just clear coat if the red was present but I do not think that's the case...

Stupid stupid mistake...:(

Great info here! Thanks for the post.

This may work well when you only have three choices, but for a 2005 750 Breva the gas tank method on Harpers site shows 6 choices of red and one cyan, any suggestions to find paint code in this instance?
The color appears to be a candy apple metalic red. Local auto paint place using a gun says he can find 88% match with a Toyota  copper red, I'd order it but it's a 2 part system which also requires a hardener at around $150 for an once.

DOH!

Ed from Af1 Racing just told me they don't have these anymore as not that many people order them...

Gonna try some other places and see...stay tune...

Timmy  the color code is what you want, if you can get that, some paint shops will make rattle cans for you.

It's the red or YR4 according to the color code

Is that the only thing I need for the painter to mix?

Sorry, I can wrench & weld but I am no paint expert :(
