my rear brake lever for the sporti just arrived from mgcycle (thanks mg.) its a really nice bit of machining. i haven't figured out how to do pics yet on this site but will do so soon. the new lever is a much nicer bit of fab than than the original. the original lever is clearly a bit of pocked sand casting and when it cracked you could see the crystalline aluminum in the cross section.
this new piece appears to be billet cnc'd and its just pretty. it has the letters "DAS" stamped in the middle and i wonder if that is the name of the group who fabbed it up. also there is a small plastic bag with 2 washers inside and the bag has german writing "Distanz fur exzenter-anschlag." to my reading this means something like "distance for extender adjustment." i wonder if this thing originated from stein dinse? not sure exactly where these washers go but the only thing they fit is the through-bolt to grab the brake slave cylinder arm - so, i assume these washers will be for lining up that shaft with the arm to give it a straight throw.
can't wait to get rid of the bit of cold rolled steer bar that i drilled and fabbed up as a temp solution.
oh, the foot pedal rubber is secured to a shaft that is on a cam so it is possible to give the brake lever some small degree of adjustment. ti'm not sure how useful that will be but its nice to have a choice.
